Kennesaw State Waiting Game
Hey Everyone! Has anyone heard anything about how the traditional nursing program is at KSU? (teachers, clinical sites, software required, first time nursing student vs. being a senior??) Since there is no informational or tour provided by the school, it's hard to find out what people think. (I don't know anyone who's been through the program.) If anyone out there knows what the program is like, PLEASE share what you know! I have been looking on this website, but I haven't found anything yet. Thanks.

Kennesaw State Waiting Game
Hey all! Haven't been here in a while, but I also got my interview letter today.

A&P I I got a C!!!!!! :-( :-(
This is my 2nd. degree as well. I was doing well untill A&P II - I got a C. Even though my GPA was a 3.2, I still have to retake it. Most of the schools that I've applied to tell me that C is bringing down my science GPA. It's the only C in all of my prereqs, but I have to retake it and move on. Good luck!

Do having A&P first help with Microbiology?
guiltysins - Generally speaking it's best to know about the human body when it comes to Micro, but you don't absolutely need to have it to do well in Micro. With that being said, I wouldn't recommed that you take 2 of the 6 required prereq. classes that most schools look for in the same semester. They both come with labs and that's more work to do. So unless you have the time to put into it (no job, husband, kids etc.) I wouldn't do it. Micro is alot of FUN! Enjoy!

HESI Admission Assessment Test for Nursing School
Tammy04 - Sorry but I do not have a pdf version available, and I gave the book back that I borrowed. Good luck anyway.

HESI Admission Assessment Test for Nursing School
Hey - I have taken the HESI, TEAS and the NET (more than once) and by far the HESI was the easiest and the study guide closely followed it. (It was worth the read since I had forgotten Roman Numerals.) GOOD LUCK!

Gwinnett Tech Nursing Program
Hey guys - I just signed the acceptance letter today. I think we will be getting the packets soon. I also hope that there is info about everything - including books.

Gwinnett Tech Nursing Program
momgrad5/07 - I'm 36. Sometimes my knees pop when I walk, but other than that - I feel like I'm 21! :roll amber1604 - Other than the 6 prereqs GTC looks at (along with some other schools) I've take Statistics & Chemistry 1 & 2 with the labs. I have yet to take Abnormal Psych. and Human Growth and Dev. Some schools have additional classes they want like Introductory Physics I and II w/labs (GSU - trad. prog.) some want Nutrition (Mercer). Take a look at what MCG requires so you're not taking classes you don't need or care to take.

Gwinnett Tech Nursing Program
Congrats to you all! I'm looking forward to meeting all of you as well. I have a bachelors degree (non-medical) and I plan to volunteer this summer at a local hospital. I have a phlebotomy certificate but have not been able to find a job doing that. (It would be great if I could get some real experience in blood draws.) For now I will keep my job until something else comes along. momgrad5/07 - There were a couple of LPNs during my interview March31. Were you there?? Anyone received their packet as yet? I now have a personal relationship with the postman, and there was nothing for me today.

Gwinnett Tech Nursing Program
amber1604 - I think that GTC will be sure to have all of their "ducks in a row" for full accreditation. (They were able to get everything together when there was an LPN program.) Also, since they have abandoned the LPN program completely, they will do everything to get the RN program up and running well. Accreditation makes them more marketable, and they want to be recognized nationally. How do you feel about it??

Something I've noticed about OR nurses...
heogog53 - thanks so much for all the info! i have a bachelors degree in architecture, and it seems that most of the schools in my area will take alot of my credits leaving me with only 2 years to get a bsn. just don't think that i could afford mercer right now, and i really need to get back to the work force asap! (also i haven't gotten into a bsn as yet.) so, i'm glad that asn vs bsn doesn't make a difference right now. i would like to purse my bsn or msn later (online) and then maybe pursue cnor or first assistant in the future.

Something I've noticed about OR nurses...
lostgrl85 - I am very much interested in working the OR. May I ask, where did you graduate? Also, do you think I would have a shot at getting in with a BS or AS? Does it even matter? I got accepted to an AS program, and I'm still waiting to hear back from Mercer and Kennesaw State (both BSN). May I also ask, where you work? (you can send me a private msg. on that one if you like.)

Student Nurses over 35 and Second Career????
Hello all! Glad to know this thread is here. I'm 36 and on my second career. I spent almost 10 years (off and on) in the architecture world and wasn't completely fulfilled. Then my brother (who was 40 at the time) had a stroke and it stopped me in my tracks. Since then he has completely recovered - thank GOD, but I have decided that I cannot waste anymore time with a job just because it pays well. It was time to got after what I really wanted. So I quit my job about 2 years ago, took all my prereq's, and I just got accepted into a 2 yr program 2 days ago. I am married and we hope to start a family once I graduate and get a job. Thank you soooo much for sharing your stories! It's nice to know I'm not alone.

Gwinnett Tech Nursing Program
amber1604 - The acceptance letter didn't say anything about a meeting, but I spoke to the Nursing Director and she said that formal letter will follow later this week with lots more information. She just sent out the emails because she knew people were waiting to hear back and, actual letters would not be ready yet.

Gwinnett Tech Nursing Program
Anyone heard from Gwinnett Tech yet? I interviewed with them 2 weeks ago and still no word. I have emailed and called there, but no one has returned my calls. Just wanted to know if anyone has applied and received an acceptance letter as yet?? The waiting in driving me crazy! Thanks.
