  1. I don't believe it is a hippa violation to look at or read the blog; these are not hospital records and you are not sharing information. It may however be crossing a professional boundary, and that could cause all kinds of issues in your relationship with this family. I would say "thanks, but no thanks."
  2. I think nurses should look professional and that amounts to being showered, clean hair and clothing, and nails that are clean and trimmed. We should also be considerate of the people we work with, and that means brushing teeth and not wearing an overwhelming scent. Most of the rest is who ever you want to be. We are all unique individuals, and it is difficult to be so sometimes when there are so many rules and regulations in a hospital concerning appearance. Some mornings I feel like part of a nurse army walking into work in my blue scrubs with my fellow RNs. Some of us are just ,way too judgmental of others.
  3. You are not too old to do get the education you want. I was 32 when I obtained my BSN and I thought I was old then. Time will pass no matter what you do and you are younger today then you will be tomorrow or next yr. or five yr. from now. I teach psych clinicals for an ADN program and I have had students in their late 50's, and believe me they are not dull or unable to learn or retain. They have a multitude of life experiences that will make them into competent, caring, and compassionate nurses. You go for it. It's your life, experience it!
