Jobless in Seattle!
Yes this is what I thought too but apparently in practice, this isn't the case. I do know what you mean, half the applications you can't progress without filling in your license number but I guess no one actually reads them in my experience. Thank you lindarn. It is indeed frustrating. I see a lot of home health jobs and pediatrics if anyone is into that.

Jobless in Seattle!
So you moved to WA without a job? Just wondering what methods everyone here used. I am currently out of state and trying to get a job in WA. I might have to move to WA because what is holding me back are the nurse recruiters assuming that I don't already have a license here. After I do my applications I get voice mails telling me how to apply for a license or how they can't hold positions because the license process takes x months. I already have the license in my hand!

Does WA not hire people from out of state??
Yeah I've done all of that except not getting the interview part. Are you a RN because I'm a LPN. I actually even go to google maps and just call everyone, all 4 or so pages.

Does WA not hire people from out of state??
Thank you everyone! Sorry for the delay. I have been going to the hospital websites. I do realize hospitals likely won't hire me. I just do not want to work with an agency or home health because they are unstable and no benefits. I have been sending my resume to nearly ALL craigslist postings. Yes I do have a WA license, it is on my resume also. I have a real physical license right here! I have to admit what REALLY frustrates me is that when I call they also ask this. It is on my resume. I recall one time I called to follow up and I was asked if I was licensed there, I said yes I am licensed in Washington, and I guess because I am in Virginia the conversation basically went into I have to be licensed into Washington STATE, not DC. I surely hope these other recruiters are not jumping to conclusions like that and disregarding me assuming I am not licensed in WA STATE or that I am mistakingly applying to WA state instead of DC. I am licensed in WA and I want to work in WA. Half the time I even have to give my license for these jobs! More recently I called nearly every facility I saw in federal way area and when I asked if they had LPN positions I was asked "for a man or woman"? I was surprised for the question and apparently I answered wrong because he replied with "no" so wow. These are all things I can not control so I have no idea what to do at this point. Like I said I'd love to live in Seattle but anywhere in WA is better than where I am now I suppose.

Best and Worst places for LPN opportunities
Well I am a nurse (LVN/LPN) and my license is apart of the NLC. The Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) enables multistate licensure for nurses so can anyone comment on any of the following states as a nurse and if any of these are actively still looking for LPNs? Arizona Arkansas Colorado Delaware Idaho Iowa Kentucky Maine Maryland Mississippi Missouri Nebraska New Hampshire New Mexico North Carolina North Dakota Rhode Island South Carolina South Dakota Tennessee Texas Utah Virginia Wisconsin

How is the market for LPNs?
Jurisprudence wow really? I'm in a state with the Nurse Licensure Compact https://www.ncsbn.org/nlc.htm so does that still apply?

How is the market for LPNs?
No real place in mind to live, I just want to move to Texas to be an LPN. Would I still have any luck finding a job here stable enough to support after a coast to coast move? I have 5 years experience and trying to get out of the east coast. It seems WA is dry so how about Texas? I know LPNs are being phased out nationally but I just thought I'd ask. I'm also in the process of becoming a RN.

Best and Worst places for LPN opportunities
Anymore suggestions? LPN going on 5th year of experience here and clearly Seattle is dried up. Been trying for 6 months trust me. How is California? Portland? I'm on the East coast trying to escape.

Does WA not hire people from out of state??
I have been applying to nearly EVERY listing on craigslist, 24/7! I never get a followup call or any response at all. I am also in the VA system and apply that way to no avail either! I don't even care really WHERE in WA the job is, I just want to move. I had preferences about an hour or so from Seattle but I can't seem to get anything in Spokane or Vancouver either! I am a LPN with going on 5 years experience plus other experiences including working in a nursing home and home care. I'm currently working on my RN. I send my resume and everything when I apply but nothing happens. The only thing I can come up with is that WA does not like to hire people from out of state for whatever reason. I have been at this every since April 2012. I need something stable since this will be a relocation move, and this job will have to support me. What am I doing wrong? I do realize LPNs are being phased out however there are still currently newly posted positions online everyday.

Relocating to Spokane
Which is the best city in the tri? Is Spokane really that bad? Also can someone suggest good schools in either the TriCities or Spokane that is good for LPN to RN?

Anyone actually hiring LPNs?
I see a bunch of jobs by places like providence and Swedish Medical Center but I've spent my summer applying to them along with many of the same positions that are STILL listed as open months later! Now all you see are temp flu shots positions. I need something full time! Does anyone know of a location that actually IS hiring and not just posting every other week just to do it? I do have A LOT of experience and I always call them back along with sending my resume. I'm at the point now that when I go for online applications every other site I'm able to just use auto fill because I've already applied so many times. Any help please!!

where do I get my finger prints done?
Hello I am planning to transfer to Seattle. I recently got my finger print kit and I was wondering exactly how or who do I go to get this done? Also why does the process cost so much?? In total I would have spent over $180 in getting my license transferred. Every single step seems to have some form of a cost to it..

Is it really hard to find a job as LPN in WA?
Thank you VERY much!! I would have been expecting a totally different experience if I did not come here. I hope this thread can help others in the future. I have been able to find many jobs but without a license I can't be hired. I hope this process goes by quickly so I can move to WA!
