  1. Just an FYI I did not go into nursing because it was a " sure thing" IN my first career I went to culinary school, and ran a successfull business.. before returning and getting my BSN... I felt I had something to give back and was very interested in community health nursing. I am frustrated...due to the lack of job..
  2. I have been looking for a job for three months, I finally got my first interview and have been waiting two weeks for them to make a decision if I got the job..it is like water torture. I have two kids and an out of work husband. this was suppose to be my "sure thing" borrowed money to go back to nursing school and can't get a job. Our big hospitals are all connected by a employment system, nobody to call or talk with..I have walked into the HR office of hospitals, they can not do anything. This is the most frustrating situtation I have ever been in. RI has the second worst unemployment rate in the country..
  3. Well I just wanted everyone to know I re-took my nclex for the third time, and I just found out I passed. It was a different experince for me then the last two times. The 1st time I took the test, 2006 I had all the questions 265, the second time 2006 I had 156 questions, I really thought I passed, I was so heartbroken I failed I quit nursing and began to work in a holistic health practice..but I did use all my nursing skills in this practice, taking a health history & evaluating patients health histories, and looking at all the allopathic medications the patients had been prescribed. But my state has been experincing a terrible economic state and I lost 85% of my patients, the health practice closed and I needed to make a decision. So I decided to take the test again, I studied for four months, basically re-learning the lessons of nursing school, I used all the books, saunders 4th edition, kaplan, medications decks of cards, on-line sites.. I went into the test with no expectations, and had 105 questions, BUt I passed, and I am 46 years old, so much for my old brain Don't give up, and believe in yourself OK so now I need to go to my first job interview in many years...LOL:nurse: Peace
  4. Tomorrow is my big day, I have already tried twice to pass this exam, I did the whole Saunders book 4th edition, and a friend shared with me the 4500 questions she had, ok I have memorized most of the questions.. from doing them so often..I feel good about my medications calculations, I am reviewing Cardiovascular today..this is my weakness.. Good Luck to all of you this week, Each Journey begins with a single step, Peace Dawn
  5. When you sing up to take the exam(I am trying for my third time) they ask you to not share the contents of the exam.It is an honor code of sorts... When you take the exam you agree to this.. Also my understanding is that the questions bank contains many questions and no two testers get the same type of questions.
  6. I am in the same boat, I graduated in 2006, and worked but could never pass the exam I feel ready now and have been pouring over the Saunders edition 4, I am about half way through the book. But i feel more confident then I ever have. I am happy for your success, and thanks for posting it really helps with the confidence. :redbeathe
  7. Can you over study? So I have the books, Saunders 4th edition, & LaCharity..I have not done any questions was trying to refresh my head (been out of nursing school for 3 years) I find the questions at the end of Saunders individual chapters really hard.as opposed to Qbank questions.. Any thoughts on this? Also the new style questions SATA really are tough.. Would love any advice Dawn:idea:
  8. :yeah:I also graduated in 2006 took the test twice and am getting ready to try again, I was part of a holistic health business that closed down, and now am ready to try to get back into care, specifically hospice nursing. I have been using the Saunders Book, & Prioritization, Delegation & Assignment. As time grows near to my test date I am most concerned with the meds, I would love some advice, on how you studied... How long did you study before you felt ready to take the test again? I am on my fifth week Thanks dawn
