has anyone else NOT heard back? I became concerned because I didn't get anything in the mail last week, so I called on Monday and the lady told me they were mailed out sporadically and I should be receiving something this week. It is friday, and still nothing.

haha don't worry, I don't see why she would lie! She just must know the right people to go to in order to get that info! CONGRATS! It's exciting to wait with good hopes, but also VERY NERVEWRECKING!! I think for everyone who hasn't heard back yet, this is probably a good sign. How long could it possibly take to type up a letter of denial? We would have probably gotten them by now had we been denied. Therefore, I think they are working on all of our acceptance letters and putting the paperwork packages together..etc. Don't worry, 2-3 mos by now, we'll probably be so overwhelmed, we'll be wishing we were still in the "stalk the mailman, check allnurses.com daily" waiting period.

Congrats Barillasle!! Let me ask you...when did you turn your app in? (and all the final paperwork..test results..etc) and when did you get your letter of acceptance? also, did they call you beforehand and ask you if you wanted day or evening classes? i'm asking because I read in a previous thread from last year and people were saying they received a call asking about their preference, and then later got a letter of acceptance. Just wondering! thanks and congrats again!!! you must be so excited!!

congrats kmt1014! what all do you have to do? and how much time do they give you? i'm still waiting on a letter! I think I'm almost at the 30 day mark, so I'll be taking my mailman stalking to a whole new level this week! LOL:D

I know! I guess at that time, they were trickling in. We probably got our paperwork finalized towards the end when they were being submitted by the masses!

I called this morning to get a status on my app, and the lady at the front desk said the girl who I would need to speak with is on vacation all week.

I didn't want to retake, but then I called up to admissions and asked if it would make a difference if I got a higher score and she said I could better my chances. At this point, I'll do ANYTHING! Even if it means sitting through another 5 hr test again! lol

Jennamec, I will be there this Sat too re-taking the TEAS. I passed, but barely. I had a 60% on science. And 67% on math. And just like you, I had to guess on about the last 10 of math because I ran out of time. I am re-taking it, figuring that it wont hurt to try and get a higher score, especially on the science. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

I PASSED!! But......just barely. Literally, I just barely passed the science..lol. Good luck to everyone else in getting their scores. And, for those who haven't taken it yet - BUY THE MANUAL! It really does help. I am HORRIBLE in Math - and haven't taken a math class since 8 yrs ago in high school (and even then I wasn't very good at it) and I passed it still. ONLY because I studied my butt off with the math section. In fact, I'd venture to say the Math in the actual test was a lot easier than the math I had been practicing in the manual. BE SURE TO KNOW YOUR METRICS!!! That's the part of the math I did the worst on!

I just (finally) completed my essay and application online. I take the TEAS this Tuesday morning. I am really hoping I do well. Congrats to everyone who has already received their acceptance letters!! About how long did it take to receive your acceptance letters from the day that you had all of your paperwork in?

when is the cutoff date for applying to JTCC for the fall of 09? I went to their website, but couldn't find much info. Maybe I was looking at the wrong place.

i'm not sure if it is different per school - but the school I am applying to says you must have 60% or higher score.

I am taking the TEAS on April 18 and have been told NO calculators will be allowed to be taken into the test, nor will they give you one. Only a pencil and scrap paper! Study, study, study!! And practice WITHOUT a calculator so you will be more prepared during the actual test!

I think you should still apply. You may get, or you may not. But, you will never know unless you apply. Plus, how do you know it willl be the same woman to interview you?

i am planning to work f/t and attend nursing school in the fall as well. I know it will be difficult and there will be many sleepless nights. Unfortunately, there are bills to be paid and dreams to be fulfilled. I think it is definitely possible and I've heard several people do it before. It's only 2-4 yrs and then you will be an RN!!

I am taking my TEAS test on Apr 18. I bought a study book from the school I plan to attend. I think you can also buy the same book at www.atitesting.com. It was $40 at the school I bought it at. The lady there told me that science and math are much more important than english and reading, but I plan to study all intensively anyway. I just started studying mathematics last night and it helps a lot! You can also go to www.atitesting.com and take a practice test, however, I've been told the study guide is much more beneficial than the practice test. hope this helps!!

am taking Nas 161 now. Nas 162 and ethics (online) in summer. And then I will have Bio 102, Micro, and Intro to phys. I hate that Bon Secours requires so many more classes than Reynolds and It's a diploma program. I plan on transferring to VCU after for my BSN so atleast they will be out of the way. I wish I had finished them all! Yes, the first 2 semesters will be light..Well- lighter! Lol! Are you from the Richmond area? Who do you have for NAS 161? I had a wonderful professor for both NAS 161 and 162 and he is the greatest professor. He makes it so that you actually understand what he is teaching and he is really nice. He gives you study guides for each test that are almost identical to the actual test. It would be difficult to do poorly in his class. I loved him. I took Bio 102 online last (fall) semester. I don't really recommend taking this class online. It was pretty difficult for me. I got a B for the final grade, and honestly I'm pretty surprised by it. Plus, when you take this class online, you have to go to 3 saturday labs which are ALL DAY LONG!! If I had to do it over, I would take this class in-class. The professor I had for intro to psych was VERY good! He, also, makes his classes interesting. I actually took his class back in 2001 (i took a hiatus from school for a while...unfortunately) but a friend of mine just took him recently and said the same about his class, she loved it as well. Right now, I am taking Ethics and Dev Psych (both online). The only non-nursing classes I have left are Microbiology, Eng 112 and the math elective. I read on the J Sarg website today that in order to get into Microbiology, you have to have 1 yr of biology (which I have) and 1 yr of Chem (which I don't have!!) - did you know that? If that's really the case, I guess I need to take Chem 111 and 112 as well. I was looking at VCU's website today because I am also interested in their RN-BSN program. It is a night/weekend program lasting anywhere from 18 mos-6 yrs (i didn't understand that part??) but it's not at VCU. You can either take it at Mary Washington, or two othr colleges, neither in Richmond. However - their RN-MSN program (which gives you your bachelors and masters all in one program) IS at VCU and lasts approximately 2.5-3.5 yrs. I am considering that program. If you are considering as well, you should take a look at their website, you need to have certain prereqs that aren't necessarily included in Bon Secours' program. For instance, you need 9 credits of Humanities courses (speech, drama, foreign language, art...etc.) so you may want to take those during your "light" semesters at Bon Secours to make sure you can go straight from Bon Secours into VCU's program. Yes, I am from the Richmond area. I just moved out by the airport....it's quite an adjustment from the Short Pump area where I used to live! Sorry for the long post, I know you didn't really ask for teacher recommendations, but I thought it might help! Also, I currently have my Ethics book, Dev Psych and A&P (which you prob already have) books, so if you want I can sell any of them to you if you need them! :) Kristi

Yeah, same here. I called back up today and asked if I have all of my non-nursing classes out of the way, is it possible to get through school quicker? She said no, you must go in the order as listed on the sample cirrriculum shown on their website. If this is the case, our first two semesters, we will only be taking 1 class per semester! I may wait and keep my 3 non nursing classes I have leftover to spread out over the year and enjoy my last summer off! lol

I thought it was odd too, but I'm glad if that's really the case. She said we are "hoping" to accept over 100 and about 300 apply but lots get weeded out just from not having the correct hs classes. She gave me the option to take the TEAS on the 18th as well. I may take her up on it since it is a Saturday and that will be easiest for me. I'm just worried I won't have enough time to prepare. I haven't taken chemistry or algebra since hs. I took Bio 101 a yr ago and Bio 102 last semester. I have most all of my non-nursing classes completed, with the exception of 3 - which I plan to take at least two of those this summer to get them out of the way. I will be taking the evening classes as well because I work f/t during the day. I hear that they sort of frown upon working full time, but I would like to do it if I can. If it proves to be too much, I can always change to p/t. School will definitely be the top priority! I'm glad to hear there are others who are plannign to work f/t and pursue nursing school at night. I know it will be quite a challenge!!!!
