Thanks @Sea2H0RN I wouldnt mind the drive at all. I do a lot of driving now as a hospice nurse. I also applied to some hospice supervisor and triage positions, let's see what kicks back.

@Sea2H0RN, I eventually want to teach nursing in college and when I look at faculty positions they all ask for acute care experience. @RUmedic the reason is kinda silly, but i'm Jamaican and Broward is home to a lot of my culture. One of my mentors encouraged me to look further into Fl so i'm listening. Gonna start to broaden my search. This week I got a call back from Jackson Memorial and Baptist. Tell me what you guys think please

Due to affordability and school districts, I've narrowed it down to Coral Springs...it just feels right to me too. I'm excited to get outta winters in NY. Problem is, although I've persevered through these years with advancing degrees (completing MSN/Ed by June with WGU) NY has not been the land of opportunity for me. I've been stuck in the long term care settings, and within the past 2 years I got into hospice nursing. Although I've found hospice nursing to be very rewarding, my new degree will only afford me a Staff Development position in a long term care setting or in hospice. My ultimate goal is to teach in college/university so I will eventually either do a post-masters NP or DNP program........but I HAVE NO HOSPITAL EXPERIENCE!! I need to get into a hospital, and I don't have a problem starting as a new nurse in med/surg - I actually welcome it. Does anyone know if it's hard to get hired at hospitals like Memorial, Broward, Plantation or Jackson? I do have my FL RN license already so I started submitting applications. Moving date is around late June - early July. HELP

Hang in there E2Nurse, I hope they switch your classes for you so you can gain back some momentum and confidence. You can also request a new mentor if you have good reason ie, not getting help you feel you need or direction. Keep us posted :-)

That class will not open for me until July 1st so I dont know much about it. I've been poking around to see what each course entails so I'll have a jump start. I think that shouldnt have been one of your first classes. Biochem doesnt look so bad so dont panic, stats wasnt bad at all. I was dreading it and passed the obj exam 1 shot n was totally surprised.

Job market on LI right now is horrible, even if u know someone within who could refer u in. A little easier for a BSN but still very competitive because for 15 jobs there are 1500 applicants

Hi rhudo, follow the content guide and for a good idea of the actual exam try the practice exams :) you will see.

EC no longer allows entry into the program from completing 50% of clinical semesters from other school, one either has to be a lpn/emt or rt. The op did not specify she had no healthcare exp, so maybe she should chime in here. I do understand that ppl might hold these titles but never actually worked, many variables with individual situations

As an EC grad, I must disagree with RNfinally about there being no clinical experience, what exactly was that CPNE then? Might not have been the traditional type of clinicals but EC isnt a traditional school! The time you take preparing for the CPNE, what is that called? I just wanted to address that statement. Now to address whether it should be listed on a resume, answer is NO! Ur clinical training in brick and mortar school or a distance learning program will not count as 'WORK' experience because u werent getting paid for it. It doesnt have to be highlighted under education either because it is understood that u would not hold the title without a clinical foundation, which in our case was the CPNE. Now the other poster is right with saying u must have some kinda lpn/emt exp or else u wouldnt be an EC grad. This is what u list as work exp. I hope this helped and I didnt offend anyone....n if I did, who cares, I love EC and I appreciate the opportunity to complete the ASN through them and I will not have the program belittled in any way shape or form :) so I apologise.

I hope u found them already, sorry for taking so long to answer. It's a Sticky thread, should be at the bottom of this page. Keep in mind they are from the 18th edition so u need to check the critical elements against ur 19th ed study guide n tweak them to ur taste :) Documentation is otherwise the same

WOW and Cali BRN doesn't accept Excelsior's RN program? I'm outraged!

Graduated from Excelsior College in July and I want to get back on the horse asap but not sure if I should continue with ec for another 18 months or try to finish BSN thru WGU in 6 months. I live in NY and I'm not sure how well WGU would be accepted, I had to ask the same question about excelsior when I first thought about enrolling. Thanks in advance :)

Hi, when I became eligible for CPNE I got an email shortly after i started the pmnt plan saying that I was granted a faculty loan for the exact amt and that CPNE eligible students are first choice for it. When you become eligible for both, esp the CPNe, call EC and speak to someone in the fin aid office about their grants and loans and they could direct u better. I have seen ppl on here that have gotten grants as well, not only loans.

Hi, I didnt appeal, I just studied n practiced all over again n saved the money to pay for it and used the pmnt plan. I tested again in june this year and passed, graduated in july and passed boards on Monday this week :)

Hi Admin, I actually built this grid myself on my little laptop and just decided to share with fellow students. Im not soliciting business, nor am I asking anyone to pay for these things.
