Do you know if any hospitals in Phoenix are hiring new grads???
Yes. He worked as a CNA, PCT and moniter tech. It would of helped allot if he had worked as an LPN before getting an RN. I would call the nurse directors and tell them you're very interested in thier departent, but they might tell you that you need to go through HR. :smiletea2:

Do you know if any hospitals in Phoenix are hiring new grads???
Um. The only reason that people have a contract with IASIS healthcare is because they went to Apollo College. My husband could not get hired there because they only hire APOLLO students. Girl GOOD LUCK. It took my husband 6 months to find a job. He went to job fairs and they only wanted exspirenced RN's. I nick named him MR. NOT SELECTED because that's all that the job posting would say after he applied. He had already passed his boards and had a license too. And he went to Scottdale Com. College. It's super tough to find a job right now as a new grad RN.

Apollo College Associates Degree Program
I obtained an AOS degree 3 years ago from a tech shcool in respiratory therapy. I still owe 14,000 and my monthly payment is $110. You're going to owe a car payment if you choose any tech school route. O and buy the way, my credit report shows that loan as unpaid dept. That can lower your credit score by owing $46,000. Say you try to get a house. I don't know. You'll start out making $27 and hour. But you will more than likely have a hard time finding a job here in the AZ valley. My husband had to wait 6 months. There are so many nursing programs now. It's competative as a new grad RN to even get an interview. BUT since you are 40 years old you should take the fasted course. Good luck. :typing

Respiratory therapist Vs Nurses
i would go the respiratory therapist route. i have a license to practice respiratory care and if i did not, than yes some other healthcare professional would be doing my job. you can expand your roles. try looking under widapedia's posting for my field's job descriptions. if i was a nurse i would probably be too stressed out to go to work. i like my job. don't worry about what you make an hour. i get all of my hours. i made 60,000 in my first year in respiratory and i didn't work that much overtime. the money is in prn work. but my husband started out at 60,000 full time with benefits right out of school as an rn. you should not have posted an rt vs. an rn titled question because there are allot of threads on this website that go on and on about our job descriptions. pick either field. :)
