  1. I was accepted into GWU's program. Im concerned with finding preceptors, especially since I'm several states away. I've heard horror stories from students in other programs. Does GWU ever assist with finding placement? I dont particularly have connections where I live and there is another large local program who fights for spots as well. Would love to hear your take on this.
  2. I'm also in the Columbia area and looking for preceptors. Do you mind providing the names of preceptors you found? And perhaps ones to avoid asking... Thank you!
  3. Not sure if this helps but I got into the post BSN DNP program (FNP) at GWU and my nursing GPA was 3.74, cumulative was around 3.6. Do you have volunteer experience? Ive heard from others that volunteer experience plus references play a huge role at GWU.
  4. I've been accepted into the Post BSN DNP program (FNP). ?I haven't received any info about getting the background check done.
  5. Anyone else considering the BSN-DNP program at MUSC? Or anyone that is currently in it and can offer some insight? I'm currently in the midst of applying...not sure what my chances are.
  6. Did you decide on MUSC? I'm looking at their BSN-DNP program and wondering if you had any insight. If you arent there, why did you choose to go elsewhere?
  7. I'm looking at MUSC for the BSN-DNP (FNP) Fall 2013. 1) Any suggestions with the admission essay? 2) Have you found it difficult to find your own preceptors/clinical sites? Thanks for your insight!
  8. Thanks for the advice! I know everyone's situation is different. I generally do very well in school, just want to be realistic.
  9. No kids. I know I can't make it through the entire program without working at least PRN here and there (maybe only 14 months or so). I don't have much social life as it is so maybe I"ll be okay!! :)
  10. I'm looking to start an FNP program next year and weighing my options: part-time vs fulltime. Ideally I'd go fulltime, but obviously finances and stress play into that. What did you find worked best for you? Is it possible to work 24 hrs/week and go to school fulltime, and remain sane?
  11. I know this has been discussed, but cant find the right thread. Does anyone have an insulin chart typed up (each type and how long it takes for onset, peak, duration, etc.)? I got the times out of the Kaplan book and now I can't find my document I spent time putting together! Frustrated!
  12. What are the important differences between diuril and hydrodiuril?
  13. Annfaith, thanks for your reply!
  14. For those of you who have gone through new grad orientation and had to take a pharm quiz, how detailed was it? I know they vary greatly by facility. We were told it'd be calculations, basics on administration and q's about a list of meds we should be familiar with. I'm so nervous about it! Let me know how yours was. Thanks everyone!
