STILL don't have a job?? Vent here!
These posts sound a lot like my feelings as a new RN struggling to get a job. I have been to many hospitals (although I already work for one) handing my resume. I am tired of people questioning the fact that a Registered Nurse cannot find a Job. Many people cant even believe it because they always hear that nurses are in demand. I try not to talk about it because some people talk to me like I am not trying hard enough. Everytime you call a place, they never return your call so you decide to go there, and now they simplify the message to you : "We dont hire new grads". How we gonna ever be experienced nurses without a job. I hope something will be done very...

CALLING---Those who have Jobs- WE need you!
I have been looking for a job since April, Note that I have been working for this city hospital as an student nurse intern since last year. I went on an interview in May, they had around 3 orientations, I was not selected for none of them. I live in New York City, I know it's hard to find a job but these days, you gotta know somebody or you must be willing to kissing someone's butt for a job. People are hiring their friends/families and not promoting those who already work at the institution. Very Frustrating!!!!

Do male nurses recieve as much respect from patients as female ones do?INPUT IS GREAT
yes. I work in Psych and this is something I see every day. Patients and staff respect male nurses more than female nurses. oh yes ...

You know you're in nursing school when....
when you diagnose people on the bus, train etc and when you think you have all the diseases you discuss in class.

Nurses STOP telling me to be a RN ! PLEASE
One thing I have to say: Not everyone who becomes nurses have the fairytale life that is described here. I am 22, I have been on mu own since I was 17. All my family members are back in my country and I recently became a RN so anybody can do it. All you need is the determination and God. Go with those 2 and you will be fine. In addition, there is nothing wrong with being a LPN at 20 before becoming a RN. I wish I were a LPN before I became a RN, I would have lived a different life to the one I lived while I was in nursing school.

Waiting for results STINKS!
I took the nclex this morning and I Never feel so damn and stupid and incompetent in my life. I just wanna die.... I know I failed, I had bunch of comprehension questions. Leaving the test center, I just wanted to drop dead instead of facing not passing such a big exam. The pc turned off at 75 questions and to me that means failing due to the type of questions i had. I studied my butt off, i did kaplan along with all their questions, their content videos, questions etc. Everyday since jan 23 I have been doing questions. None of the content and strategies work for me on the exam. I guessed 98% of the questions. I never felt this way before... I am such a failure.... For the first time in my life, I feel like hurting myself so that I can feel the pain because crying is just not enough to express how angry I am for studying so hard. How can one cope from such a failure???? God tell me
