Starting RN classes with clinicals this January and need to get a stethoscope for the clinicals and labs...What kind should I get and where should I buy it that is a good deal? I was looking at the Littmann ones but do I really need an expensive one or can I do OK with one of the cheaper models? Ebay has the Littmann "lightweight" ones for around $40-50...or do I need a better one? ALL advice appreciated!!! =)

It was pretty overwhelming with everything we need to get done before the first day, but not too bad. Did you order your uniform yet? Not looking forward to wearing all white lol.

Thanks and congrats to you too! :cheers: I know what you mean I told some friends and family and while they were supportive and happy they dont REALLY know what a small feat it was to even be accepted, or how much it means to me that I have even gotten this far... My school is MVCC in Illinois, I cant wait! 2 more years seems like such a long time but I have a feeling it is going to go FAST. I am so glad to be able to come here and talk with other people who know I feel!

Make sure you know your metric conversions! For example, how to convert degrees Celcius to degrees Farenheit and vice versa..

Thanks! This is for the Spring 2010 semester. I have to go Nov 19th to register and for orientation. It will be for an Associates degree, but I do plan to pursue a bachelors eventally.

At mine you needed to have it at least from HS. anything after that was recommended but not required. I still took it, and Im glad I did. But if you already passed Micro then it shouldnt be harder than that in A&P I would think. You mostly need to know the Krebs cycle, glycolysis, etc...

Checked the mail today and there it was...I was so scared I had to have DH open it. All he had to do was read the first word which was CONGRATULATIONS...I am still in shock!!!

I think it depends on your school. My school the TEAS test is 100% of getting in. Whoever gets the highest scores in math and science combined gets a seat. And you get to add on 3 points for an A in A&P. Thats it, they dont look at GPA at all. Of course you still need to have at least a C in all the courses that are needed to graduate but thats it.

I agree there does seem to be a lot of rumor and misinformation going around...And they have changed a few rules since the information session I attended in June.

I havent gone yet, I heard from another student yesterday that if you take it again, the second score is the one they use, even if it is worse. I am going to ask one of the academic advisors if this is true first.

I am putting in my application in a few weeks for Spring 2010. I took the TEAS already but I might take it again just to see. Good luck!!

No gas laws questions, a few about particles and maybe 2 more about electron shells.

I dont know what to tell you about the science, I was ready for the Chemistry and AP stuff but the earth science questions and even the Physics ones I was clueless on. As for the math I remember at least 2 adding fractions problems and at least 1 dividing fractions. And also for sure at least 2 converting fractions to decimal. And quite a few asking about percentages.

I am signed up for AP II and Micro this fall too but that is all I have except for a COL 101 class and a 3 hour weekend PSY class. It will be hard but hopefully not awful.

I also remember there were questions where you had to know how to convert Celcius to Farenheit, which I missed because I dont remember the equation. ALso there were a few about converting inches to centimeters. (also missed lol)

I took it yesterday and I remember that question and diagram you described. I also have NO IDEA what it could have been. I scored 83.3 in the science section but some of those questions about rocks the earth really stumped me. I would love to know the answer to that question though because I am going to take it again.

Took it today and did well *I think* but dont really have any other scores to compare it to. My school is now going by your raw scores in math & science added together and the highest of these get a seat. This is the first time they are doing this so even the academic advisors had no advice to give me on if my scores were 'good enough' or I should try again. Im thinking I may give it another try and take the top score just for the heck of it. Anyway, I would like some feedback on my math & science scores, would you retake? Do you think I may have a chance? There are like 300 applicants every semester for 50 seats. Math Adjusted Individual score: 82.2% Science Adjusted Individual score: 83.3% The English and Reading sections you only are required to pass, which I believe is a 60%, and I did, but anything over that isnt really considered for getting in. There will also be 3 points added to this because I got the A in A&P I. My application is due Oct 1st so Im pretty sure I will retake, just looking for some feedback here. Thanks!

We had our first exam tonight and I scored 100%!!! There were actually 108 questions and a few of those he threw out, so I did get a few wrong, but WHOOOT!

They combine your raw scores from both sections and whoever is in the top 50 scores gets a seat. Oh and you get 3 extra points for an A in A&P I. Thats it! SO I am set to take the TEAS this summer and it really sucks because everything is riding on this one test...
