  1. Hi everyone, Sorry for the delay on responding. I'm halfway through the program now... just finished finals! Be ready for a ride :-). Most of my classmates got their acceptance letters the week of orientation. I don't know when you guys would have orientation but I'm assuming its in the next 2 weeks. So if you haven't gotten a letter, its not surprising. They are very last minute and unorganized :-)... but so is the field of nursing. I got my acceptance letter right after my application was submitted, but I had also applied for the previous semester so they had already reviewed everything... but then a class expired so they couldn't accept me until my midterm report. Good luck everyone! I know how much it sucks waiting, but its worth it for your dream!
  2. I wish I had a better answer for you. But unfortunately UMDNJ states very clearly that without a 3.0 in your undergrad you will not be considered. I know many people who got rejected for this fact unfortunately. But don't give up! You can make it.. I had a poor freshman year GPA and worked hard to get it up by the end... and I finally made it to my dream :-). Good luck!
  3. umm it says an estimate of $300 on the info sheet
  4. jess and I got them... when did you get all your info?
  5. you can still read mine but I'll just send it through e-mail... I got the 32 GB when it was on sale
  6. you're welcome! I personal messaged you my facebook page!
  7. Hi new friends! Here's what I've gotten and what I've heard.... So our orientation is from 8-5:15 on the 14 & 15. We need ot get our school IDs and parking passes beforehand. (You should be getting this letter shortly... right after you send in your deposit). Here is the info on the PDA... from what this says and from what my friends in med school at the UMDNJ med schools have said is UMDNJ is basically going to the ipod touch as their preferred form of PDA so I just got one of those. http://sn.umdnj.edu/pda/index.htm At orientation they'll reigster us and we'll also pick our clinical sites which can be within an hour of newark... which excites me that hopefully I can get some down in the New Brunswick area as I live down here! You are also going to get 2 books with homework assignments that are suggested to be completed before Jan. 4th the books are... Clinical calculations made easy;Solving problems using idmensional analysis (4th) Craig, G.P. and Medical Terminology a programmed learning appraoch to the language of health care (2nd) Wills, M.C. We will also get measured and order our uniforms at orientation so bring a check or credit card. You'll get a letter to activate your e-mail account as well which is really easy. And then you'll get letters from Financial Aid as well to do all of that stuff. Congrats to everyone and if you have facebook let me know and I'll personal message you my page and we can become friends!
  8. Orientation is only a few weeks away! FYI ipod touches are on sale today... and they are a "suggested" form of PDA for us :-) Where do you guys live? Are you going to be commuting?
  9. congrats! another girl and I found out almost 3 weeks ago via mail... aaaaaaaand we haven't received our packages yet... the deadline isn't even until Dec. 1 soo :-) I'm sure you should be ok! Congrats though look forward to meeting you!
  10. check the mail tomorrow! we both got our letters two weeks ago on Saturday and we are both finishing up prereqs so you should be fine!
  11. I need to post one more... then I'm going to send you a personal message with all my info... I live in Edison... and yes I have facebook I'll sed you my info!
  12. yeaah! we're going to become very good friends over the next 16 months!! congrats! Where do you live? aaah! so exciting and nerve racking at the same time... isn't it?
  13. Rutgers A&P is rough... I took it last summer.. and am finishing up Micro at Middlesex right now... its a lot of work to figure out what works for you... but I just kept trying different things and now have a long complicated process down, but it works. Good luck! My roommate went ot Drexel and loved it... UMDNJ was my top choice and luckily I got it :-).... but everyone is different. Good luck and if you have any questions about prereqs and stuff let me know... I'll let you know how UMDNJ is!
  14. That is a loaded question. Thanks for the congrats! I've been basically preparing for 5.5 years... I have a bachelors in Exercise Science that contains some of my prereqs and I am almost finished with a Masters in Nutrition. I redid A&P I and II and Micro for grade/expiring reasons over the last summer and this fall. It took me a while to learn how to study and figure out how I learn, but since then my GPA has sky rocketed up. What all do you have left to take? What is your bachelors in? I don't really know what got me accepted, but spend a lot of time on your personal statement. Make sure you have a resume that shows you are hard worker. And choose your recommendations wisely. They wouldn't say it straight out, but they like a "variety" of reco letters. Let me know if I can help anymore!
  15. I'm sorry to hear that, but congratulations on getting in to the other programs and good luck!
  16. For those of you questioning GPA, don't give up! I had a 2.5 my freshman year and graduated with a 3.19. I redid all my prereqs from undergrad for both expiring/grade reasons so I ended up with an A in Micro, B+ in A&P I, and B in A&P II. I'm not sure which chem they took, but my lowest chem is a B and a few have A's. My grad school GPA that they saw is a 3.4 (yay its a 3.56 now!) and I GOT IN! (for Spring 2010) If nursing is your dream, don't give up. I think it helps that I had other science courses after first taking my prereqs that showed huge improvements, but I would recommend taking a few science courses before diving into A&P and Micro. They are intense programs and the second time around with a biochem and exercise physiology (my first degree--and I love that too!) background made things flow so much easier. No matter what though, don't give up, keep chugging along! Good luck everyone!
  17. hello! are you going to be on the newark campus?
  18. Hi everyone! I just got my acceptance letter and am super excited!!! So I wanted to post and see who some of my new friends are going to be! Let me know if you are accepted and I'd love to chat with you!
  19. Sweetblyss ooh I wish I had! I just logged onto my pace account with my info for a&p this summer. Do you think I should call and ask if my application has been processed? I have a peace that that is where I'm supposed to be, but trying to be ok if its not. Anyways, if I do get accepted I'm thinking very strongly about living in the city for next year... so if so we should talk about possibly living together if you would like! Hopefully I'll get something soon! How long did it take them with you? As for computer science, yes I have had two courses because it was required for my Exercise Science degree. I'm guessing with all the work you've done on a computer you'll be fine and can test out of it. I think it is more for the older adult students who have no idea how to work excel or anything :-). Did they give you a number you can call with questions?
  20. I think I need to get in for nothing else of the fact that you and I would keep each other sane :-). All my grad school professors (one being the one who wrote one of my reco letters and he was the head of a cardiac unit at a hospital at one point), classmates, and friends keep asking me why I think I wouldn't get in, but for me I just magnify the bad grades and think why would they accept me? I'm just a year older than you and its awesome that you got accepted into Nursing right away, though I am thankful I've had this little not break, but I am working and doing my grad program so it kind of mixes things up. I've been in to see the admissions office and spoken with the assistant director of admissions multiple times through both phone and e-mail. I could hear the annoyance in the guys voice at grad. admissions every time I called and he heard who it was... woops. But its nice to know someone else has been bothering them as well :-). If I get in, I think (this is my plan right now) I'm going to stay living in NJ (yes I go to school in connecticut but I only have classes one weekend a month). I am planning on moving in June right by a train station and its a lot cheaper to live here. Even with the commute it is going ot be far less and I'd like to minimize my loans. I commuted to school for two years in undergrad and its less than an hour on the train. Plus, I have a whole support system here... so I think that is what I am going to do, but we'll see if I get an acceptance letter and more information that may change! Esp. with 7 am clinicals... but again, we shall see... one step at a time. Thanks for chatting with me though, it eased my anxious heart as I keep stalking the post man... did they send it to you through mail or e-mail? And I know the feeling lost in getting started, but i think that is how every grad program makes you feel. I also agree about the med school route... my profs have asked me why not finish up the few classes I have left and apply to med school. I like the looking at the whole person approach that nursing brings :-). The only thing with nursing programs is I think the ones who don't require more chemistry should. Other than that I love the nursing approach!
  21. Well... they lost one of my reco letters so I had to have the nurse I had writing it resend it.... and thne they kept not filing stuff... so I kept bothering them with that... and then they took away the 2 year porgram which I originally planned on doing because I have to redo technically only anatomy but since I took them seperately I have to redo a&p 1 and 2, but because I am signed up for them this summer at pace I can get a conditional acceptance. Ha ha, so here goes my long complicated story. I have a Bachelors in Exercise Science with a minor in psychology and am partially through a Masters in Human Nutrition at University of Bridgeport. It is a biochem based program. I really, really want to the FNP so that I can practice integrative medicine... combining all the degrees together to get the best treatment for each patient individually. Every person I have talked to at Pace has been os incredibly helpful and friendly and I love that they say on the website they aren't just looking for grades or test scores but personality. I have a large resume which includes a research project and internship and also community service and working in jobs with a variety of ages. I'm hoping they look past my first science grades in anat and phys to see me get nothing lower than a B in 4 chemistry courses (I am now on the 5th which is clinical biochemistry), I have pathophysiology, exercise physiology, physics, my stats grade is an A-... etc. And I'm just hoping my passion for nursing and medicine showed through in my personal statement I got over 1000 on my GREs... but if it is supposed ot be, it will happen, if not I will apply to a lot more programs next year... there is just something about Pace though that I really want to go to their program. Are you super excited?! Congrats on your acceptance by the way!
  22. I was just reading this post... I'm actually taking a different appraoch to integrative medicine including nursing. Its not what I planned, but I'm really excited to how it may be turning out. I have a bachelors in Exercise Science and am currently working on a Masters in Human Nutrition from a biochemical-integrative stand point with medicine. I then plan to complete a bsn/msn program (and if my professors get the best of me and actually talk me into it a doctorate program). For me integrative medicine is taking all areas of medicine together to combine to ge the best result. Not only with a FNP allow me to have a modern medicine approach, but due to my other degrees thankfully I understand exercise, nutrition, and botanicals to help each individual develop hopefully the best treatment plan for themselves. Its a long road I'm on, but definitely something I am loving! I learn so much about how things interact and connect and need to be connected and I really do believe it is where medicine is headed :-).
  23. I'm waiting to hear back... crossing my fingers and hoping I'll be your classmate! I've talked with them numerous times... and I'm in love with the school as a whole and what they stand for. I'm just praying they don't look at my freshman year grades... and recognized I've gone on to excel with even getting on the dean's list and now I'm working towards a masters in nutrition! but who knows :-) I'll let you know when I find out!
  24. Hi there! I just applied to the Pace CDP program. I have taken all of the prereqs, but have to redo one of them because of the grade. Doris e-mailed me and didn't say anything about it being cancelled, so I am confused.
