  1. The guy I worked with was through the SCS Realty Group. It's good that you're going so soon because from what I've heard, the time to look for apts. for September 1 is now. Hopefully, you'll find something on Wednesday. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! I haven't heard of anything like a fb group or forum for people starting this fall. The most luck I've had with finding people who are attending is through allnurses in this forum. Hopefully more people will start talking about the program as we here more information or as it gets closer to starting school!
  2. I am very, very excited!! I worked really hard to get accepted into a program and Northeastern was my top choice so it feels really good to be where I wanted to be after a lot of work. I actually did already find an apartment. Not to scare you, but the apartment search was no fun As I'm sure you know, apartments in Boston are very expensive and you don't get a lot for what you're paying (atleast in my opinion). I'm not sure where you're from, but I currently live in CT and am not bringing a car to the city. So, I needed to find a place that was close to school either by walking, biking or public transportation. I found an apartment on Beacon Street in the Fenway area of Boston. It's a 20 minute walk to school, but I'm hoping to mostly bike or, in the winter, use the T. I met with 3 pretty crummy realtors before finding one that actually showed me something decent. If you're interested, I'd be happy to pass along his information. Let me know!
  3. Congratulations Jamie!!! I am also attending Northeastern in the fall, but don't have any information on what the daily schedule will look like. I know we're not supposed to register for classes until July so it may be awhile before we know our schedule If you or anyone else attending NU receives any more information, please share! Congrats again...I look forward to meeting you in the fall! :)
  4. Sacksr - Northeastern's program is appr. $12355 for the first four terms. After that you work for about 6-9 months as an RN (hopefully! since the Boston job market for new RN's isn't too bright). During this time you pay no tuition, but get paid as a nurse! The last two years you pay per credit. The cost is currently $1065 per credit. Most programs range from 43-48 credits for the final two years. I have calculated my tuition and fees to cost about $98,000 at NEU. It's so much money, but I'm hoping to do the last 2 years part time (which will extend it to 3 years) and continue to work as a nurse while I finish the program. This way I can hopefully get tuition reimbursement from wherever I'm working and be able to pay for some of my tuition as I go with my income. That's of course the best case scenario, but all I can do is dive in and see what happens! If you end up at Northeastern, I'll look forward to seeing you in the fall!
  5. Juliewoo - I posted something a while back about my concern for the lack of jobs for new RN's in the Boston area. Are the job prospects as grim as they seem? Any insight you/anyone has on this would be awesome!
  6. Congratulations to everyone who's been accepted! Very exciting! Is everyone planning to attend Northeastern?? I love the program and am definitely planning on sending in my deposit this week. My only concern is about the lack of jobs for new RN's in Boston. It seems that people are having a really, really hard time getting a job especially without any experience. I'm worried about not being able to find a job for the co-op portion of the program. Is anyone else concerned about this? Anyone's input on this issue would be great because it's really starting to freak me out a little
  7. Hi JayMay! Congratulations on your acceptance!!! Northeastern is definitely my number one choice. I love their program for so many reasons and feel very lucky to have been accepted. Did your letter state when classes start or give any kind of orientation date? I haven't received mine yet but am anxious to find out more details. What specialty did you apply for? If you do end up choosing Northeastern, I'll definitely look forward to meeting you! Chemistry03 - I'll continue to keep my fingers crossed for you!
  8. Hi Jamie, I was notified over the phone and told I should receive a letter from graduate admissions sometime in the next couple of weeks. Thanks for the congrats! I am very excited! I hope you hear good news in the very near future! P.S. I know that the whole school is on spring break next week and noone is expected to be there, so if you're really anxious to find out, you may want to try to call the program coordinator today. She's extremely kind and informative. Good luck!
  9. Hi everyone, I found out yesterday I was accepted to Northeastern!
  10. For those of you deciding between Columbia and Yale, I have to back up sportsgirlly on her comment about New Haven. I lived/work in New Haven and hate New Haven! I would choose NYC over New Haven any day. I don't think New Haven and NYC are even comparable when it comes to culture or experience. Also, when I started applying to direct entry programs, I shadowed three NP's who graduated from Yale's program. None of them recommended Yale's program and said if you could get in elsewhere to go there (wherever there was). From what I can remember, they thought the program was disorganized and I don't think they felt like they got the best education. Just my two cents!
  11. Hi everyone, I actually just finished my phone interview (I think they're still interviewing into next week). The interviewers told me that we should hear about acceptances the second week of March. They had 293 applicants, they're interviewing appr. 130 and they can accept 50. Good luck to everyone!
  12. Cstark, Thanks so much for sharing that email! It was very nice to hear of someone who isn't in drastic amounts of debt after completing the program. That lifted my spirits for the day! :)
  13. Does anyone know how many terms the program is? I'm trying to figure out how much the whole program is going to cost and can see that it's appr. $12,000/term. But I can't seem to find how many terms make up the program. Any help would be much appreciated!
  14. Hi everyone, For those of us waitlisted, I called the school of nursing today and spoke with someone in student services. I asked her if it was possible for me to find out where I was on the waitlist and was told that the waitlist information was confidential and she couldn't help me. I was just trying to find out my chances of being accepted to UVM because I need to put down a deposit at another school, but I guess I'm just going to have to wait. Anyways, if anyone hears anything different, please share!
  15. Hi everyone, I just received notification yesterday that I have an interview at SU! I live in CT and was wondering if anyone else did a phone interview? I am able to travel out there but it would be much more convenient and less expensive for me to do it over the phone. Also, if I even have the option of doing it over the phone, I'm torn about whether it would be more beneficial for me to do it in person and I'd LOVE to see the campus and Seattle. Any input or suggestions?
