So it's Wednesday...Any news?!?! I SOOO wanted you to get some good news!!!! :heartbeat Sorry I haven't been around, I've been busy with classes... I'm accepting that this is what was meant to be and I'll live. Now I'm counting down the days till I get to start... August 23rd 2010!

I would but the next closest school that offers a RN program is 100 miles away and I can't move because my husbands job is here. I'm pretty much stuck with this school..lol Oh well.... You better let me know if you get in!!! Surely one of us will!!! Haha since it wasn't me, it's gotta be YOU!

My school doesn't offer a spring class, so I wont be starting until fall. Luckily, I don't have to reapply, I'm already accepted for fall. All this waiting and uncertainty has been emotionally exhausting!!! I never dreamed this was going to be so hard.

WOW! Sounds like you have an AWESOME chance!!! I'm so excited for you!!! As for me, I believe the chapter of me having a glimmer of hope has officially closed. Unless someone doesn't show up for day 2 of nursing classes, I'm sunk because they wont admit anyone after tomorrow. I was chatting with my friend who is 1 spot behind me and we were equally frustrated. We're all told that a bunch of people drop out the first few weeks.... GRrrr I wanted this SO freakin badly! Oh well, life goes on! Fall 2010 it is. :wink2:

Oh geez! Sorry!!! Haha I'm sure you don't need me giving you any ideas on how to obsess!!! I have their whole day thought out... "Maybe they will call me now because...." It's bad! I don't recommend it!!! :chuckle Anywho, I PROMISE I will post the minute I hear anything. If it's going to happen, it will be tomorrow sometime or first thing Wednesday morning I would think. Only 48 hours of torture left and I will know one way or another. They wont move anyone after Wednesday. You're SO stinkin lucky you have a whole week of hope left!!!! Although there is a sense of peace that comes with knowing..even if it's not what you wanna know.

No news yet...... Tomorrow is the first day of nursing classes. I'm still holding my breath that they will call first thing in the morning because someone doesn't show up... :plsebeg: I always have this little glimmer of hope on Mondays that someone called and left a message over the weekend... lol So come 9 -when they get there- I stare at my phone thinking, RING!!! :anbd: Obviously, my mental powers are lacking... He he

Isn't that crazy?! That's why I think that my school should start putting people on the list according to interview and grades instead of, oh gee...you met the requirements..now ya just gotta wait your turn... This sounds SO mean, but statistics say that several of them wont even make it through the first semester.... Drop out and work on your math/study skills and GIVE YOUR SPOT TO ME!!! LOL :wink2: Oh well!!!!

CONGRATS GIRL!!!! I wish I were in your shoes! If someone drops out ahead of me, I'm in! I hope I'm in this with you, but either way, you will do great! You have come so far! Enjoy the ride!!!!

You're so sweet! :heartbeat The nursing office did tell me that they were moving people in as late as Wednesday last year, (classes start Tues) but like I've said, I will have to find out how behind I am at that point. I guess they go straight into lecture on Tuesday and have tests Thursday...UGH! LOL I'm keeping a positive attitude either way. Thanks for the prayers! :wink2:

Keep up the positive attitude. Ya know, I think I've gone through all the stages of grief and have finally arrived at acceptance. lol I'm going to enjoy my Sunday and try not to even think about it until Monday when there's a small chance they may actually call.

You know it's the noise for me too! The vomit itself doesn't really bother me. Although when you can tell what it is (peas..carrot chunks...GAG) it definitely makes me a bit green. LOL

That's exactly how I feel!!!! Like if I have to wait another year I'm going to die of impatience!!!!! LOL I'm definitely getting a lesson in patience. SIGH.... Waiting till spring doesn't seem all that bad though! I would trade my guaranteed spot next fall for a shot at starting in January!!!!

All I can really tell you is that if you really want this bad enough, you will get over it. :wink2: Needles/blood stuff like that doesn't bother me. But everyone has something.... For me, it's :barf01: !!!!! I started working as a CNA and I'm not gonna say it was easy dealing with it. But I did it. The first few times I had to clean it up, I though I was going to be sick.. But eventually I started slowly getting desensitized it it. I still HATE it. But now I can deal with it and not get sick myself... Good luck with nursing school!!!

Unfortunately, at my school, there are a lot of people accepted who don't have a chance in H*** of finishing. One of my friends is starting her 2nd year (ADN) and she said they have lost 6 students and the LPN class that she started with had lost even more! The problem with my school is that while they consider the nursing programs to be "selective admissions", you just have to jump through the right hoops to be accepted. It really annoys me when I hear how many people are flunking out because the waiting list to start is 3 YEARS LONG!!! I have a 4.0 and have been waiting for almost 2 years... Yes, I would love to go to a different college but this is where my hubby works and I am not willing to separate my family, so I wait..... I know -from prereq classes- several girls who will be starting with me in my class that I'm pretty darn sure wont make it through the first semester. That's sad to say, but it's true... One in particular had to take ALL of her science classes 2 times just to get the required grade (C!!!) I'm not trying to say I think I'm really smart or anything, but she was in my sociology class -which I considered to be quite easy and common sense- and barely passed it with a C. Every test, she would ask, "How did you know those answers?!" And I would always tell her, "I read the chapter!" Like, DUH!!! :wink2: lol Anyway, it's not up to me to pick who gets to start. The only thing I can control is my personal educational experience. I know this particular girl is going to expect me to tutor her though NS the way I have through many of our other classes, but there is NO WAY! I've learned enough from these boards to know you need to suround yourself with people who contribute to study groups. After all, I'm a student too!!!! Not the teacher!

Oh no, I'm guaranteed a spot for next fall. I was officially excepted for next fall but enough people gave up their spots for this fall that I moved all the way to first alternate! If I end up not making it in next week, I'm #1 on the list for people starting Fall 2010.

I wish! Classes start Tuesday and they will move me in Tuesday or Wednesday but no later than that because we have tests on Thursday!!!! As much as I'm dying to start, I don't wanna be behind from the start! lol

At least you have till the 31st! Our classes start NEXT WEEK! Ugh... Waiting till Spring wouldn't be all that bad. If I don't get in this fall, I'll be #1 for next fall... I have to admit, when I saw your reply I thought, MAYBE SHE HEARD SOMETHING?! LOL Whatever happens, we'll be okay! We just may have to wait a little longer than we would have liked. :wink2:

They told me that Monday is new student orientation and that nursing classes/lectures start Tuesday and our first tests are Thursday!!!! So in other words, they get right down to business! At this point, all I can to is PRAY and hope for the best!

I'm right there with ya girlie!!! Still nothing...I really feel like giving up. I finally went into the office just to "check in" (I think they are getting really sick of me!!! haha :wink2:) And they said you never know, we had one of our LPN students give up their spot yesterday... She also told me that they will move me in as late as Wednesday but that if that happens I'll be pretty behind from missing so many lectures...ugh! Of course I'll take a spot any way that I can get it, but c'mon people!!! If you don't think you wanna do it this year, give up your spot NOW not on Wednesday!!!!!

Awww thanks guys!!! You guys are so awesome! :heartbeat The story with my school is once classes start, they wont move any alternates. So I have this next week to get "the call" and that's it!!!! I actually started #11 mid-June and have been #1 for the last month or so. I'm really excited for this week to start! All I can do is pray! I'll let you guys know if I hear anything!

Since I was a late alternate and missed orientation last March, I've had to go in several times to fill out paperwork. Anyway, I've gotten to know the nursing office staff pretty well and she knows I'm still interested. I'm trying to be patient but it's crazy not knowing!!! LOL

I have been first alternate -to start this fall- for weeks! The nursing office was originally really optimistic at my chances and told me to line things up because I had a pretty good chance at getting to start. Of course I was thrilled and I've spent a whole lotta cashola on shoes and a stethoscope and school supplies... Anywho, I have been really optimistic but having not heard anything I'm starting to think it's not going to happen. We start school the 24th, so technically they still have all of next week to call me and let me know I'm in but I'm wondering if someone was going to bow out, wouldn't they have done so by now?! Anyone else been in this situation? Did you end up getting in??? Any and all advice is greatly appreciated!!! :heartbeat Mel
