LPN Training Under 11 months
I also will be attending a 9 month program in Massachusetts. It does not require a pre-reqs. We just have to pass the entrance exam.

Math Skills
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.... I am so worried about math. I've been out of school for 20 years. My 15 year old has been refreshing with me and I have been stressing. I'm up now doing MATH on an online site. It's 2:45 in the morning and I've been doing this for weeks. My prep classes start March 2. I'm really petrified I will fail the mail portion. I am great a med. calculations, my Grandfather was a very sick man and I was his care taker until his passing. As for algebra. I know the basic equations. So, you really think that is good enough?

For all pre-nursing students
I also believe it all depends on where you live. I live in the Boston area, so I'm hopeful to have a decent job. I do see your points and I appreciate your being the "devil's advocate" as someone else has said. I do notice that most places do not like to take new grads. I can see that new grads may end up getting the not so desired night shifts until they get the experience they need. Thankfully, I'm happy to work nights. I go to work, come home take the kids to school, sleep, pick the kids up and spend time with them, along with my husband and then go to work again. Thanks for the info~

Trade school or community college?
Yes, I can see New York being more expensive. I am just shocked at the price of 3k. We do have out of pocket expenses as well, but I don't think it's more than 2k total. So, I'll be paying about 10k. I did look at some schools that are 16k for the 10 month LPN program, but our Vo Tech is great. It has a very good pass rate. I do think that the Vo Tech's should have a standard fee but, I do understand to why college's charge differently. Some may disagree, but sometimes you can get a better education in smaller schools. I'm just happy to be able to have a chance to become a nurse. I can't not wait to get my RN. I just want to take care of people. =)

Trade school or community college?
Wow, I am going to a Vo-Tech in Massachusetts. We have to pay 8,000.00 plus another 1,500.00 in "other" fees. I can't believe people are paying 3,000.00. I live in the wrong state. LOL I'll be going 10 months 4 nights a week from 5-10 and every other weekend. I do like the Vo-Tech a bit better, for the LPN program. Good Luck!
