  1. Well, I am a nurse, an MDS coordinator, but unfortunately, with 230 residents, I HAVE to rely on the floor nursing staff to do the physical assessments. Sure, I could do them, but with anywhere from 15-38 MDS assessment due weekly between Medicare PPS and the quarterly, annual, sig change...I have a hard enough time getting what I have to get done, without adding the physical assessments. I am considered Nursing administration, do oncall, and weekend manager responsibilities. I am salaried and wish I had 8 arms sometimes!!!
  2. i haven't checked my own charts for charting errors, but 3 out of 4 hospital vists results in me recieving a medication in error, or not recieving a med as the case may be....I ahve been anurse for along time and sincerely hope we don't ALL make that many mistakes!!!!!
  3. I agree that it is a good idea to work as a Cna prior to being a nurse. Too many nurses are being graduated with very little clinical experience, yet are to be IN CHARGE when they are on the floor, and they truly don't know what they are doing. Being a charge nurse is more than paperwork and delegation. A wise nurse listens and depends on ALL her/his staff and an experienced CNA is a very valuable resource. Any nurse can benefit from knowing the duties of all the staff they work with.
