  1. now thats funny stuff..
  2. was workin one of my part time er gigs at a local hospital today. well there was alittle shoot out in the local hood. bunch of shots fired but only one fella got hit. ems brings in this cat 28yo with two gun shot wounds one to lt upper abd and rt bicep with now exit wounds. to be honest it was sort of tense for the first 30-45min. guy was hypotn and squirtin blood out the arm wound pretty good. what i saw while we were cuttin clothes off him was the usual thug like tats and items. now this guy was known to a few er techs of being a local bad ass sort of a bully. well i think he lost his rep cuase this cat was screamin and cryin like a baby the whole time...he was literally yellin for his mama and begin us to save his life. i was told this was the same fella that spent 4 yrs in state pen for armed theft and assualt and rumored murders..now he was lying supine in truama room #2 crying, begin for his mamma. if it wasnt for hippa i would have videoed his thug ass and posted it on youtube for the world to see what a tough fella this cat was....now before all you bleedin heart nurses get on here and blast me for pokin fun at a patient who was in pain let me defend my actions by saying it was funny crap and i'll do it again when a meat head wannabe gangsta comes kickin and screamin after being shot, cut or beatdown into the er pleadin for his momma...now thats funny:lol2: i dont care who you are... post note, cat went to surgey speenectomy, arterial graph to arm, off the vent restin nicely in the unit on morphine pca, best part is im paying the ******* bill!!!!!!
  3. main reason there is a new man in mass. is because the people dont want socail healthcare, illigal aliens everywhere...unions had nothin to do with that cause most of the registered republicans in that area are card holders..dont be a hater.
  4. my two words are.....chuck norris.
  5. man i tell ya...i work in icu and many part time hrs in local er's. i do not put myself in a situation that even a acusation can be stated. i will only do a foley, strip down or 12 lead on a female if the crap is hittin the fan with that pt. otherwise get a female staff person in there with me. seen too many other nurses, resp techs and docs get absurd acusations leveled at them by patients. nope do want that headache.
  6. it wouldnt matter to me, just as long as you can function...like i told our hospital "uniform snitcher" bean counter..the patient that you are putting a ng tube in dont give a crap how you look just as long as you can sink the tube correctly and quickly...but she just shows me a copy of the hospital uniform regs..and i get a call from my manager. hey you just cant beat the system.
  7. please bring union to mississippi.
  8. man i agree with the last post. i would take the closer job in the sicu & soak up as much icu knowledge you can before the interview process. i work in a small icu in mississippi but we are always full and rock & roll constantly, had around 5 nurses goto crna programs with in last 8-10 yrs, im hopen to interview within a yr. dont let a smaller unit dampen your hopes. give it a shot, if you still find yourself worrying go part time/prn at the level I if possible.
  9. lord i know the feeling. dont mind so much taking care of sick patients, but all the little drama that follows gets on my last nerve...tired of trying to help save the sick patient and trying to take care of the family at the same time. hell i can barely control what happens to my patient much less what happens to the patients extended family 3 states over. thank god for locked units.
  10. how about first becomming a rn first. if you can hack that for a yr then worry about progressing to crna.
  11. just wait till you are approached by a pts family member or visitor and asked are most male nurses gay like they are on tv. screw that tv stuff, all its done for me is allow people to think #1 that i could be gay or #2 i couldnt make it in med school..you know just like on tv.
  12. pt noted to be in suspine position with pie hole wide open snoring like a train and copious amounts of saliva stringing from side of mouth.
  13. man you can slack off training alittle while you are in school and pick up full speed when you are out and making some jack. i have been taking judo/sambo for about 18months since i have been working and its super sweet. graduate school then train all you want. DIFF.
  14. Here is the majority of typecasting for the man nurse. #1 Gay #2 Wanna be doctor, just doing nursing till I get into med school and #3 Some high strung know it all thats always pushing the limits Never do they portray the guy as a quiet proffesional that is just trying to get through the shift doing the best he can with what he has just like everyother nurse in the place. Nothing more and certainly nothing less.
