  1. Some nurses with ASN who worked in a hospital for up to 20 years will make more than new nurses with a BSN. This is especially true for hospitals with a nursing union. Maybe hospitals in Hawaii have a lot more nurses with ASN degrees. At my hospital (PA state) most nurses with BSN and who are board certified and work full time make six figure salaries. Those with ASN who worked 20-30 years at the hospital have very good salaries with their hourly pay capped at around $60 per hour or so. I did not see PA state on this board however.
  2. You will need: a good GPA, some experience in the clinical field that you would like to study, and a strong essay. I applied early and got accepted in February.
  3. 2007? I will start in 2017 too if thats what you meant.
  4. Congrats!!! Yes. And I've only heard good things. From what I heard a lot of programs now offer that you find your own clinical placements. Most students start searching for placement early so it's less stressful. If you work in any of the partner hospital/organization you may be eligible for a discount. Are you out of state?
  5. I applied last fall (former Drexel grad) and was accepted to the FNP in February. It took about two months or so. Applying late may mean you have to wait until after the deadline in June. I had great experience at Drexel (BSN) and the faculty are the best so i choose to continue there. Good luck to all who apply :)
  6. Hi Arober12, Congrats and and all the best to you. Thanks for the good wishes!!
  7. Yes. Most do. Good luck with your upcoming finals and the NCLEX. All the best on your job search. You can apply to PENN also since you are in your final semester of school. There is not a separate application for their residency program though so keep that in mind.
  8. Ive applied to every hospital you can imagine. lol. So far Jefferson and MERCY. All are good hospitals but i go off the feel i get when i interviewed and how they go about doing things. So whats important for me is the team on the unit and the environment..etc. I didn't apply to Christiana. Do you have to have another license for that hospital or is it PA? I'll have to do some research...
  9. i interviewed around the same time too. The unit i interviewed on is accepting 2 new grads. I am currently interviewing at other places as well. Mainline hospitals have some really nice units though. Thanks and good luck to you too!
  10. Has anyone applied to mainline nurse residency program and signed up for an interview this September? I am waiting to hear back from them after the interview. I constantly check my email. haha. It would be nice to get an offer and work at one of their hospitals. It look like a great place to learn and grow. Please let me know. Anyone?
  11. When I was in school i went and got a pharmacology incredibly easy at a Barnes and Noble store.... that helped me a lot. Whenever i was in lecture i would pay attention to the medication that the instructor talked about and study those. For clinical i would write about 10 medication (per clinical session/class) on a flash card from the meds dictionary, this would include the name, class, use, side effects, intervention, etc, etc. I got a good grade in pharm so i guess what i did was good.... Good Luck!
  12. Congratulation momof03!!!! :balloons::clphnds: All the best to you. I am away in Florida and can't read my letter but 'm staying positive. I call Abington to see if they would tell me but it was too late when i call. I will try again tomorrow, i hope they'll tell me. I'm telling you that i will see you in september because i just feel that i got in. I chose nights and weekends too. I'll let you guys know for sure when i call tomorrow.
  13. Not yet cause i'm not home. I'm sorry to hear that you are on the waiting list but keep in mind that if you are on the waiting list then its a definate thing that you will get in next fall. By then you will finish all your courses. I'll let you know what's up when i get home and read my letter.
  14. I will suggest that you try and do some vuluntary work at a hospital or work as a CNA so you can get some experience. Do not fear the thought of being a nurse, its not awful. You just simply have to like helping people. Every proffessional have to deal with people. However, being a nurse you are dealing with sick people with different pesonalities and you just have to love doing it or you will just hate your job. Be a nurse if you feel its right for you. Good luck!
  15. nholmes1983, your miracle will happen. I'm praying for you.
