  1. Where upstate NY are you?
  2. I thank you guys for all your response. However am i glad that i called or what , b/c i got back a phone call from one their recruiters and if i had to say, it seems as if i was given a mini phone interview. Now had i not called to follow up i probably would have never gotten that small window opened.
  3. I completely agree, i too find that so annoying and frustrating. The next thing that i find annoying is that some hospitals have a bunch of positions available and it's like seriously, are they trying to say that we qualify for none of the positions that they have open. U know what i mean.... very frustrating .
  4. Ok, so here goes. I applied for a new graduate nurse position from Dec of 09, right. I got back an email from them stating that someone else better qualified was selected for the position. Anyway, so i decided to call and ask specifically for the Nurse Recruiter like i always try to do anyway, so the lady on the phone, said yes, can i help you. So, i told her my position and she looked me up in the computer and said it said that i was under qualified, so i started thinking to myself how the hell i am under qualified, when i do have the basic of what they were asking for, the only thing i don't have at this time as of yet is BLS, I am currently looking into geting that squared away, but still can that really stop me from getting hired? So, she went and connected me to guy that supposedly was the one to look over my resume b/c she said that he might be able to tell me why i was deemed under qualified, well he was no help b/c he looked me up also and said he doesn't know why, but he can tell me what they require which was a Bachelors( which i do have in Nursing) and at least 1 year hospital experience, so i said well working as nurse or what, b/c if u are considered to be a new grad u are not necessarily going to have that as yet and he said no, any kind of hospital experience, so said well that i do have i worked as a Nurse Tech or 4 years, and all he could say was, oh, well, i don't know why then but i will talk with the nurse recruiter and if anything after she re-looks over my resume if she has any questions or whatever she might give me a call. Now i am just sharing this b/c i am like, okay what am i suppose to think after that conversation, to me it's kind of weird, but i am curious to see what you guys think, so hopefully u will read and share ur thoughts with me. Thanks
  5. Thanks so much ... i agree with you, lol....
  6. I am just wondering , I've been told that the best time to go and drop of your resumes is in the morning before 12 noon. So, i was just wondering is there anything wrong if you go after 12 noon? like does it really matter !!!!
  7. Thanks for answering, i will definitely be changing my objective to make it sound right.... fit the position that is... instead of being general and vague like i have been in the past... who knows maybe that is one of the reasons why i have not been getting any call backs... Once again thank you!!!!
  8. I also wanted to know from u guys that work thru agencies, how does it work in others would u recommend that to someone who is a fairly new grad.? any response will be helpful!
  9. Oh i forgot to ask the question, i wanted to know when applying for a job be it in a Nursing Home , LTC facility, hospital or home care do u constantly change ur objective on ur resume to fit the place where u are applying or do u keep it standard for ex. by saying: ........seeking a staff nurse position. and that's it. Also when faxing of the resume and cover letter would u guys recommend still using a fax cover sheet or no! curious here want to do it right!!!! Thanks!!!
  10. I know what u u guys are feeling b/c i feel that way at times and then i find myself wonder to myself , what else can i do to better help me secure a job in this tough economy. Sometimes, i wonder if i am limiting myself by not applying to too much LTC facilities, however on the other hand when i do call and ask if they are hiring, some are telling me that they want experience, my thing is if everybody wants experience but they are not willing to give you a chance, then how are u ever gonna get the experience that you need to eventually get the position that u desire.
  11. I am just curious and would like to know, how many of you that have applied online, have gotten any callbacks about a job? I am trying to decide if i should go in and drop of my resume even though i applied online already? What do u think!! Any advice is appreciated!!!
  12. oh, ok i am gonna give it a shot both ways actually, i feel as though some places may prefer u to apply via the net and then some may prefer u to walk in. I'll see what happens. Thanks for sharing guys!
  13. Ok, thanks, i am going to give it a shot that way and see what happens.
  14. Does it really make that much of a difference when applying for jobs if u apply over the internet vs. walking in person and dropping of ur resumes. I really would just like to know b/c i am internet kind of gal! and would really prefer applying over the internet b/c when i call and speak to someone( sometimes the nurse recruiter they tell me that they are not hiring right now) so i feel as though if i email them my resume at least then i may stand a chance of them taking a look, what do u think. Please give me ur feedback!!!!!!!
  15. That is the pop up that i got and like u was very skeptical , but then i saw my name on the BON site minutes later.....so i think it is safe to say that u can breathe a sigh of relief until u too like me see ur name on ur BON site. an early congrats to u and keep me posted, ok....
  16. I just wanted to thank you for responding. I actually found out that i passed my exam and am so happy right now....
  17. I just wanted to let u guys know how i did ...... I found out today that i passed..... i didn't want to try the PVt trick, but one mind told me to try and i did and for the first time ever i got the pop up and was like wow... is this for real... and then couple of minutes later i checked the BON site and saw my name there with the RN license # and was so happy...... as i had checked a few minutes earlier and didn't see my name.... but with that said i thank everyone here as all nurses.com and good luck to everyone that still has to take their exam..... and to those waiting i know it's not easy believe me.... but try ur best and stay positive!!!!!!
  18. Think positive, stay strong u can and will conquer the exam one day....my parents always told me....."nothing happens before the time" and " everything no matter what it is happens for a reason' so stay strong! my prayers and thoughts are with you.
  19. Good luck to you, just think positive, pray and be calm and u should be a- ok. My prayers and good thoughts are with you....

  22. for everyone out there that got the pop out what exactly does it say and how long after ur exam did u see ur name on ur BON website.
  23. I just wanted to say thanks to you smn 2009, as i knew of that site before and knew it was filled with good information, but never really looked at some stuff that i should have took the time to focus on, so again thanks!!!
  24. I know what you mean. I graduated from last year May, life threw me some curve balls and i have not passed my exam as of yet, but never the less i have been looking for a job, even as CNA and all i am hearing is , " We can't help you, b/c you are not CNA certified", and i am like thinking to myself i have experience where i worked as a Nurse Tech, which to me is the same as a CNA for almost 5 years, like what more experience do they want me to have, and if the problem is so much b/c i am not certified, I'm like why should i spend extra money to go take a CNA class( which i don't have by the way) when i am already trained as a nurse, but just don't have my license now like i am supposed to. I feel like where else can i look, maybe i am not looking into the right places, and then the people in my life that think i am not trying to find a job or whatever, just makes it more frustrating to me. With that said i welcome any advice, ideas or suggestions on what i can do, or what you may think i am doing wrong, as i am confused and frustrated at the moment!
  25. Hey everyone, i am taking my test today for the umteenth time and i will pass this time. All i ask is for ur kind thoughts and prayers!!!! and for everyone ( myself included) that will be taking their test today and in the future, good luck!!!!!! WE CAN DO IT!!!!!!!! STAY POSITIVE!!!!!!!
