How many worked while in NS?
I am in nursing school and I work full-time. I work weekends and some nights during the week. I always spend all my spare time studying. When I work over night, I study for like 4 hours at work. It is not easy but it is doable. I am actually doing better than most of the people in my class that do not work. I have B's in my fundamentals and medsurg classes. Time management is the key. You should also plan to say good bye to your social life. I do not have time to talk to any of my friends or hang out with them. Good Luck!!!!

CNA/PCT Programs
Did you take the state exam? How was it?

CNA/PCT Programs
I had elastic stocking, making occupied bed, feeding and turning on the side for the class final. For the state, I had turning on the side, weight, rom excercise for the arm and washing feet.

I am sorry to hear that. The 100 question test is just like the tests that she gave in class. If you go through your notes you will be fine. With the skills, I went through them every single day. Always remember that if you are doing a skill that involves washing a client you have to wear your gloves. When you are done with the process, empty the basin first before putting the dirty linen away. Take off your gloves, say you are washing your hands and then call light and lowering the bed. If you remember these then work on remembering what you have to do for the skills. If you have family members to practice with, then use them. Also you could go over the skill and then try and re-write everything...that helped me. Repetition helps. You tube also has some great skills videos. Let me know if you need any more help.

CNA/PCT Programs
Yes I completed the program. We had classes for four weeks and the fifth week we had clinicals at a nursing home. After that you had to pass a skills check off before sitting for the state exam. As soon as you pass the skills check off, then you pay for the exam. I passed my exam and got my card this weekend.

Stethescope & Blood Pressure Monitor
I purchased a Littmann II Classic and it is way better than the cheaper stethoscopes at the uniform stores. It would be a great investment.

First Cohort of a new ADN program?
Are you nervous about being in the very first class?

I need your help.....
I appreciate your response Charlie2410. I have a big decision to make, I will go to the school and find out more information about the new program. West central does not certify any loans and so the only option would be applying for a private loan. I really do not want a private loan with the economic situation. They offer the pell grant, though I did not qualify based on the amount that I made.

I need your help.....
Thank you very muc. I got my acceptance letter on Saturday. I was really surprised because I thought the program had been pushed back again. The letter stated that the program starts in January and I have until August 15th to decide.

First Cohort of a new ADN program?
Has anyone been in the first class of a nursing prorgram? How was your experience? Was the school organized? Pros and Cons?

I need your help.....
I have been accepted into two ADN programs and I am confused. The first nursing program that I was accepted into is an hour away from my home and I already stated that I would attend this school. I have already purchased books and uniforms, which I can return if I have to. I have heard great things about the first school. My biggest problems are that the drive to school and to clinicals will be so long. The other thing is that the school does not participate in Federal student loans, that means I have to get a private loan or figure out something by the time school starts. School actually starts in the Fall quarter (September). I will have to work while in school and I am still trying to find a job that will work with my schedule. The second school that I was accepted into is located 20 minutes from my home. This will be the schools first ADN class of 30 students, which starts in January 2010. I applied to this school because they had a reputable LPN program and I heard that the Nursing Director who was at another school is excellent. This school participates in the federal loan programs and this will be very helpful. I will also have enough time to look for a new job and prepare for school. The clinical sites will also be closer to my home. I am really confused....what would you do?

CNA/PCT Programs
The program takes 5 weeks. I am not sure if they have PCT. Also the prices on the internet are higher than what I paid. I took the evening class which is four days from 6-11 pm. The morning class is for three days.

I am taking my cna class at Elite Medical Training Center in Marietta. The instructor is excellent, she is an RN and the fees are reasonable compared to the other schools in the area.

West Central Technical College Fall 2009 Students
Hello MyDream 2011, I think I might get the new balance walking shoes, the price is more reasonable compared to the nursing shoes. I just completed all my immunizations and titers today...phew! I have been looking at rolling bags in walmart, and I saw a Jeep bag for $39-$49. I was hoping I could find a good backpack with thick straps. I do not have a PDA, I don't know if I should get one. I am not taking any classes....just trying to relax before school.

I got accepted into West Central Tech!!!
I started a thread under the general nursing student section, "West Central Technical Fall 2009 Students." We can share ideas on where to get cheap school supplies, etc. 61 days to go...yay

West Central Technical College Fall 2009 Students
Congratulations on your aceptance to the LPN program! I was accepted to the RN program and we had to purchase uniforms which the school selected through Meridys. The uniforms have a school patch. If you were just accepted, they will probably send you information about the uniforms, books, etc. I believe the uniforms should only be worn during clinicals. I am not sure about the classes, try contacting the director for the LPN program. Does the JC Penney in Forest Park carry nursing shoes? Good Luck.

West Central Tech.
Janis, The newer edition also comes with a CD which I used to prepare for the exam. I timed myself on the computer and this helped me a lot. Good Luck!

West Central Technical College Fall 2009 Students
I am also excited and nervous. I bought all my books from Amazon as well. I got my uniforms a month ago. I still have to get shoes and a bag. I can't decide if I should purchase a rolling bag or just a regular backpack. Any suggestions on places where I can purchase some good shoes?

West Central Technical College Fall 2009 Students
This is a thread for students who were accepted into the Fall 2009 program. I started this, so that we could count down till school starts and help each other with places where we can get cheaper school supplies etc.
