  1. @HBaum I passed the physical it wasn;t as bad as expected. I am glad its over. I wish you nothing but success.
  2. The Navy. My husband is AD Navy and he is saying the same thing. What branch did you apply for?
  3. @ HBaum thank you for you response. I go in the morning and pray that all goes well. I will let everyone know sometime tomorrow. I have been so nervous all day today. I am just ready to get it over with. I hope I have a good experience like you.
  4. @ LunahRN LOL. This will be some great conversation.
  5. @midinphx thank you for preparing me for the details. I would have been caught off guard with someone watching me voiding. lol
  6. Thank you so much.
  7. I am going to do my physical soon and I wanted to know what to expect. Thanks in advance.
  8. @traumaRUs My husband is active duty. My mom has agreed to go wherever I am stationed and she is truly a huge help. Do you regret joining and how many children do you have?
  9. @midinphx I truly appreciate your response. My oldest child will be 12 this year and my youngest is two. I am a mother of four and my husband is military also. I feel that all of the benefits will outweigh everything, but just concerned about the kids. I have always wanted to be a nurse in the military and have been pursuing this dream for approx three years. Now that it is getting close I just want to make sure I am doing the right thing, but it seems like I won't know until I do it. Did you join with kids?
  10. I am in the process of joining the military and I have children. I just want to know what is it like with having children and being in the military as a nurse?
  11. I am feeling the same way. I don't know what I am going to do. I am not a quitter, but I am not really happy as I thought I would be.
  12. This was very helpful. Thank you very much.
  13. I am planning on submitting my application this year. I am curious on what to expect as a Navy Nurse. Is working in the hospital on a Naval base similar as the civilian world? Meaning do they do 12 hour shifts? Also how many times have you been deployed in your career? Thank you for starting this discussion.
  14. @cmo701 I live in Florida. I am planning to take 2 classes. How about you?
  15. @lishahb13 I am also starting October 24.
  16. lol I will tell the doc who referred me. If my stomach keeps feeling this was I definitely will. I am going to nights in a few weeks. I work out on my off days consistently to help alleviate stress. Working out is like my outlet. I really love my job, but it is a huge transition from school to actually being an RN. Thank you so much!
  17. I feel the same way. I am five weeks into my orientation and My stomach gets upset for quite awile. It feels like its tied in knot, and no I can't even have a bowel movement because of the nerves. Everyone says I am doing fine. I look confident but in the inside I am screaming:bugeyes: I hear it gets better after the first year. I hope so.
  18. I went to nursing school with 3 children and found out I was pregnant in my first semester of nursing school. It was very hard but I was very determined to finish. Your motivation will give you the boost you need to pursue your dreams. I was at clinicals and after clinicals I went to the hospital to have my fourth child. I delivered her on Friday and I went back to school on Monday to take a test. I finished nursing school this May and I passed the NCLEX this past week. Having RN behind my name is worth all the stress and tears that I have shed. I also had a strong family support system with my husband and my mother. You can do it!!!
  19. PVT WORKED FOR ME. I checked as soon as I went to the car after taking the NCLEX-RN and I received the good pop up. The next day my results was posted on the Board of Nursing.
  20. Kaplan is very similar to the NCLEX in my opinion. Lacharity was really great in ptparing me for priorityzing and delegating questions. Saunders was great for content. I had a lot of endocrine on my exam so I am glad I look over that area. And as long as you have the infection control in place you will rock the test! I told myself I was above minimum competent for this examination and it boosted my confidence.
  21. It's official I am a RN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PVT works.
  22. My primary resources was Kaplan. If you are using Kaplan don't worry about the scores just focus on the questions and rationales. I also used Saunders 4e, but I reviewed certain chapters like GI, Endocrine, a little maternity, and Fluid and Electrolytes. I did have some ABG questions on my exam also. I used lacharity the last 2 days before the exam. The infection control mneumonics that is posted on here is amazing!
  23. I believe that the best way to prepare for the NCLEX is to do as many questions as you can and understand the rationales. I did not realize how important practice questions were until I was actually taking the test. I had a lot of medication. SO STUDY YOUR MEDS AND THE SIDE EFFECTS. I had areas such as the endocrine and GI. I did not have any maternity or peds. Also brush up on calculations, bec I had quite a few.
  24. I just want to start off by saying God never fails!!!!!!! I got the good pop up. A lot of SATA, meds, and priorities. I am now waiting for the official results. I am praising God
  25. I am in the same boat with working and family. I am doing more questions than anything and looking at the rationale. I try to do questions in the morning and at night to balance things.
