  1. Viajera- I would love to talk with you more about decisions, as I had to decide between Boston College and UCLA. Also, it would be great to meet a possible classmate! I think there is a way to send private messages on this blog, just not sure how to begin that process. Bests!
  2. Viaj..- Congratulations! That would be great to already know someone in the class for Epi at UC B. Do you know the location of the classes? SF? Berkley? Let me know if you enroll. Enrollment begins for summer session on April 12th. Ill be online bright and early to try to make sure I can enroll in the class. Making a decision can be really hard, especially if you have a person or people staying in the bay area that you really care about. I know that UCLA is a far better program. You will probably get a better clinical experience at UCLA. In SF you are competing with all the other nursing programs to get clinicals: UCSF, SFSU, City College...Im not sure the other schools but I know your more likely to be placed at a better hospitals in LA than SF. After all, the UCSF nursing students will get the first priority at the UCSF hospitals. Also, USF is so so so expensive. I went to USF for undergrad and the real benefit I had was the small class sizes. I was able to get to know many of my professors which seem to help me. Best of luck to you with your decision process and please let me know if you enroll in Epi. Looking forward to hearing back from you, Ali
  3. Hey All newly accepted MECN students. I cant wait to meet you all. I live in San Francisco now, anyone whos in my area thats going to be starting the program? Also, I had some back and forth conversations about full-filling Epidemiology. Im going to try to take it at UC Berkley Extension. Anyone out there with the same plan? I cant wait to meet you all at the end of July for orientation! Bests!
  4. Dear kp002, Yes I have pretty much decided on the school between UCLA and BC. I found out I got a fellowship at UCLA that pays for at least my first year. UCLA is far cheaper and because I know I will eventually be back in CA and I want to make the connections in LA versus BC. I also was a little worried about the length of the BC program for a NP. The other entry NP programs were at least 3 years long and BC is only 2yrs. This is a little concerning. UCLA is a CNL program so I guess I am compromising by choosing UCLA because I know I want to be a NP. What other schools did you get into? Any in CA? I know I had a hard time figuring this all out. The Fellowship was a big decision maker for me but I think even with out the fellowship UCLA is still a good choice. I think Ill have an easier time finding a job with a UCLA degree vs a BC degree, especially if Im trying to work in CA.
  5. Tokebi211 Wow, thanks so much. This may save me a lot of time!
  6. SRL- Im trying to figure out where to take Epidemiology as well. Im up in San Francisco and cant come down to take the class at UCLA. I would like to take it as an online version because that would make my life easier. Do you know of any online classes? Either that or Ill have to take it at UC Berkeley Extenstion. Do you live in LA? If not, when are you planning on moving down there? Anyone know of an epidemiology class online? Thanks everyone.
  7. Dear BCgrad- Thanks for your thorough speedy reply. I do feel pretty passionate about doing FNP and ya, I know the national health service corps doesn't scholar CNL programs. Your advice has helped me so far. I will be in contact with you further when more questions arise. Thanks!
  8. Javabean- I just was emailed today about the acceptance. Give it a week and try not to think about it. Im sure they are sending out lots of emails. You should just call the school and ask. Good Luck.
  9. Dear BCgrad- I got into the FNP option and will be visiting the school at the end of March. Are you in your first or second year of the program? I have many questions: How do you feel about the pace of the program? I also got into UCLA CNL program and am trying to figure out what will be best for me. Do you live close to the campus? Do students in the program usually live together? Do most students get good clinicals? How far is the commute to most clinicals? Have people in the program gotten National Health Service Corps scholarships? I will be applying for this program. I know I have so many questions but I am excited to speak with someone who is already in the program. Thanks!
  10. Hey all! I also got accepted to BC in Family NP. Im going to visit BC at the end of March to check out the school. I live in San Francisco so it will be a big change. I also got into UCLA in a CNL program and now I am torn with what I should do. Any suggestions? Im also nervous about how prepared I will be doing a program in only 2 years and then able to be a NP? Also the cost of the program is much more than UCLA...Those of you who live there, where do you suggest I look for an apartment? I have so many questions....Any other FNP options out there? BESTS!!!!!
  11. I got in! Emailed today. Decisions, decisions to make now. Im also looking at Boston College in the FNP option. Congratulation everyone! I cant decide if I should do a CNL program or go straight into a nurse practitioner program. Good luck everyone.
  12. Hey Everyone, I got on the wait list too. Im actually pretty bummed. Did anyone else get wait-listed for the DNP family option? I wondering how many people they wait-list. Anyone know?
  13. I'll check my mail today! Ill post too if I get a letter.
  14. Ive been crazy checking my mail. I hope Im not the only one. Let us know if you receive a letter!
  15. I applied too! I cannot wait to find out! It has been kinda stressful, but Im trying not to think about it too much. What programs did you all apply to? I applied to the DNP Family option. Good Luck everyone!
