  1. Work Inforcement Act (W.I.A.) helped me through school. You can qualify in many ways. It helped me since my husband made too much money for me to get a pell, but not enough to afford school. Since I had not been working for six months, I was eligible no matter what my husband made. I had to fill out for it at the employment office. Not many people know about it. Was formerly called JTPA, hope this helps.
  2. Probably just stress, but it happened to me and it was something more. I have a pituitary adenoma, (prolactinoma). I have problems with lactating, and some months I do not have my regular cycle. The medication I was put on helped to lower my prolactin level, and my cycle returned to normal. Some women go to the doctor thinking they are pregnant because of missed periods, but have sometimes found that it could be a medical problem. Not trying to scare you, like I said, if you are a nursing student, you are probably just stressed out. Some of the girls in my class are having two periods/ month due to stress, but just thought I would tell you my story since you were asking.
  3. I found that using NCLEX cd's helped me learn how to take the nursing exams, plus, don't put off doing any med sheets or packet work, if you wait 'til close to the time it is due, you will be rushed, won't do as good of a job, and on top of that, the due dates usually correlate with other tests. You'll be working on that instead of studying, so, get it out of the way ASAP.
  4. I only have two semesters left, but am feeling like I am not happy at all with my career choice. Everyone keeps saying, "You're so close, look how far you've come", but the truth is, I don't know if I want to be a nurse now. Can you experienced nurses give me some advice? I can't tell you exactly what it is, I have just started doubting that I would be happy in this field, or any medical field. I'm trying to figure out what other career I could go into where all of my pre-reqs would transfer. Any suggestions?
  5. wishing for the best!
  6. I'm just a student, but have NEVER gotten the impression, from reading the posts here, that the nurses portray even a hint of being perfect. They do try their best to answer any questions posted, and when one can't answer a question, another may be able to share their experience with us. If you stick around, you'll see this.
  7. It was great during our first semester, but second level is a different story, they won't let us copy and paste, so back to the pen
  8. Attending Jefferson Davis Community College, Brewton, AL. ADN program. Love it!
  9. Welcome! Wish I would have completed school when I was 20, oh well, at least I'm doing it now!
  10. that's easy to remember! will have to pass it along
  11. Helps a lot to read from the experienced nurses! We are covering this in class now, and will be tested on it Tuesday. It sticks a lot better when I hear fellow nurses discussing real life situations.
  12. Could you tell me how the pay works if you aren't needing assistance with housing and you are traveling in an RV? Do you get a certain amount toward housing anyway? I know I have to put my year in, but my husband and I want to travel and want to buy an RV. Thanks for any input.
