  1. I wish I knew exactly where in GA you were in Decatur off of flat shoals parkway off of 285 there is a school for 550 Ellenwood Academy they have a website check it out ellenwoodyacademy.com
  2. Well, I was just on the Georgia Health Partnership website looking for some free CNA Training when I came across the FAQ's and I saw this phone number to call for questions on Train the Trainer certification and eligibility maybe they can help you with some more info. Here's the number (678)527-3010. I don't know if you can send messeges on this site but you know my login name is nursinginmyfuture send me a messege and let me know how things are going for you. Good Luck and when you start that school can I be your first student???
  3. I think that this is a wonderful Idea I went to a private post secondary school in the decatur area it was horrible I paid all that money and got a little out of it because the instructor never taught before and instead of giving us more time in the lab he gave us more classroom time and I was not prepared for the skills portion of the exam so I never went to take my state certification. But now I'm going to try to take a review course to see if I can take my certification if you start this school it would be in your best interest to have a review class
  4. Well, I was asking myself the same question I have an application for Atlanta Technical College for MA even though I really wanted to do the LPN Program but the LPN Program at ATC was on a one year Wait List and I figured since I've been out of work for about a year I could not wait for 1 year to go to nursing school. So I went for the MA program I start on September 30th. But I want to transfer into the LPN Program next year I'll talk to the admissions office about that.
  5. I think the speech you just gave should be enough your exactly right about there are all levels of service she should be happy that you want to make a career out of helping people being an humanitarian is the best job in the world and if that is something that you want to do she should be supportive and loving
  6. You know I went through the same thing I think my class was $550 4 weeks but this school had hired a new teacher so the teacher that I saw in orientation who was an experienced teacher and nurse was not the same instructor I had when we showed up to class. He was very nice but he didn't have a CLUE on how to teach this class I mean, he would spend hours on videos when we should have been in the lab learning how to making beds and measuring input and output. When did spend a little time on weighing a patient and transferring a patient from bed to wheelchair in other words like you said I got my diploma or certificate what ever you want to call it in Feb 09 and haven't even sat for the Certification that test is $107 and I don't want or need to take a test that I would fail. Grant it I still don't have a job but I am $107 richer LOL !!! I am going to take an LPN Program this fall though. Oh and the good thing is the instructor said that I had the Highest Average in the Class and if I ever needed a recommendation he would gladly give it to me so I guess that class was'nt as bad as I thought it was I did actually learn a lot I guess I just wish I had gotten more hands on! It's really worth have a rigorous program rather than one you can just breeze through.
  7. Congrats everyone I just finished my clinical and will pick up my certificate on Wednesday I just wanted to say that youtube can be a very useful tool as it has helped me pass my checkoffs if you go to jtduncan54 and subscribe to her videos on youtube it will help you to pass they are for a school in north carolina and are very informative. The LTC that we did our clinicals offered us all jobs after I live in Georgia but was born in NY. PPE is pretty easy but making an occupied bed is kinda tricky but with practice I'm sure you'll be a pro in no time
