the oldest baby in your level 3 nicu
In our unit the oldest is 2yrs 3 mos. Charge syndrome with trach.soon we have a toddler roaming around our level II wide room.This kid is starting to walk alone. No chance to transfer to a specilized hosp. bec. they are not accepting one with trach.We love this kid so much...

High Census Question
"OVERTIME" covered our over census unit. Float in from other unit but preferably from maternal & child dept. only be considered if no more available staff in our unit to do extra duty or OT.

Weaning from an isolette
We start weaning once the baby reaches 1700 grams, dressed w/ a paper cloth,hats on, and swaddled well inside the isollette with temp. control off, port holes open for three hours.If the baby maintains his body temp. within that span of time, wean them out and put them into a cot with additional blanket on.

Congrats! you choose the right unit of a hospital PICU. dealing with kids is great....try also working in NICU,so nice to care little ones in a cot too..:wink2:
