  1. Hey guys, what type of visa did you apply for before doing the BP? Student, 456, or tourist? And why did you choose that over the other types?
  2. Are sponsorhips available in Australia like that of NZ? I've heard that in NZ you can apply for sponsorship to shoulder a portion of your BP tuition. Is there such thing in Australia?
  3. Hey there! I've read somewhere in this thread that the show money amounts to 1M. Is this true for the others? I don't know where I can get that huge amount of money.
  4. I'm not applying for a bp yet. I'm referring to the assessment and application fees of AHPRA. Maybe debit card is ok as long as it is affiliated to mastercard or visa, I hope... By the way, how much did you guys pay during your application to AHPRA? Do different provinces charge different registration fees?
  5. Hi! Has anyone of you tried paying the assessment and application fees through debit card? I am planning to get a debit card, specifically from unionbank so I can pay these fees conveniently.
  6. Thanks for sharing your situation! Right now I'm considering other options. I doubt I can save enough money from that program. Anyway, good luck on your plans! I'm sure you'll make it.
  7. Hi! Part B is done in Australia, right? Are you going on a tourist visa while you do Part B, then come back to the Philippines to wait for the results? Will you look for an employer only after you've passed and met all registration requirements or can you do it before the test? I'm thinking about registering with QNC but I'm afraid I won't get a job there because of my inexperience...
  8. So is it still possible to register with SRNA without experience?
  9. You have a piont babyjr. But is work experience a requirement for SRNA? I noticed in their forms there is a section about RN Employment History. But there is no column for the present year 2009. I had my volunteer work starting December 2008 until present. Should I leave it blank?
  10. I see. I appreciate your posts. They have been very helpful.
  11. That website was helpful. Thanks Silverdragon! I better be ready with some thick clothing if I decide to work in Saskatchewan. :nuke:
  12. I checked their website and it says English test scores are valid for two years. Good news for me because I have more time to get my hospital experience.
  13. I already passed IELTS last July 2008. Do you know if SRNA also requires our IELTS scores to be not more than 1 year old at the time of registration? I know for a fact that CRNBC implements this policy. I wonder if SRNA has a similar rule.
  14. I see. I also downloaded their application forms but I'm still gathering more info. Now I'm leaning towards Saskatchewan. I'm just waiting for my volunteer work to formally end so I can process my documents full time. I wish you both luck!
  15. Thank you for that info! That enlightened me a bit. So that means I might go through SEC in BC. Do you have a clue as to why they required you to take SEC? Is it lack of experience or a different nursing curriculum in school? I'm not yet a US RN. I'm considering Canada right now as my first choice even though I don't have any relatives or friends there. But I'm still at the stage of gathering info. So your opinions are most welcome! :nuke:
  16. Hey, is it difficult to find employers for the 250-hour experience requirement of CRNBC? I'm planning to work as a GN before I write the CRNE and I'm afraid that I can't find a job there.
  17. Hey johnbrew, have you started processing your documents for SRNA? I just think we have the same situation because I'm considering Saskatchewan and I only have a little hospital experience as a volunteer. Did you consider British Columbia? Because right now I am looking at BC and Saskatchewan.
  18. Hi! What if I already passed IELTS? Do I need to send the original copy of the my results to CRNBC? Or can I have a photocopy sent? If not, can I request the IELTS organization for another copy of my results? I only have one copy of it...
  19. Thanks! Can you tell me something about the living conditions in these two provinces? Like if life is fast-paced or laid-back in these areas, the cost of living, economy, education, health care, technology, political situation and others. I want to get a better picture of these two places so I could compare. Is it true that the weather is too cold in Saskatchewan? How about in BC? I'm from a tropical country and I'm not used to extreme cold. But I guess it's nothing I can't handle.
  20. Hi! I am a new Filipino nurse. I have done some research and I'm thinking of working in Canada in the near future. I have up come with two choices of possible work locations for me: British Columbia and Saskatchewan. I first considered Saskatchewan because I believe it would take a shorter time for me to process my registration and work, but I heard that the weather there is too cold. So I thought of British Columbia. But then, I have heard that the process there is longer. Also I have read on CRNBC's website that as of January 2007, English test scores must not be more than 1 year old at the time of registration in order to qualify. Thus, it means I have only until July 2009 (I took and passed IELTS on July 2008) to be able to register with CRNBC, so I have to hurry if I want to work in BC. Does this also apply to SRNA? I would like to ask your opinions on where I should place my application, considering the living conditions, cost and time of processing, and possibility of working as a GN before writing the CRNE with my little hospital experience here. Please help me decide...
  21. Thanks silverdragon102! Now I know I'm on the right track. I just hope everything will fall into place.
  22. Hey there! I'm a new nurse here in the Philippines and I want to set my plans right. I'm thinking of taking the CRNE in Saskatchewan in the near future. I still need to get more experience in the hospital though before I start processing my application with SRNA. I already passed IELTS last July 2008. This is my plan: gather one year of hospital experience, register with SRNA, find an employer, register for CRNE, apply for work permit, fly to Canada and work as a GN, write and pass the CRNE, and then work as RN. Whew! Did I miss something? Is my plan in proper sequence? Do I have better options? I'm also wondering, can I get an employer through the internet? I searched saskjobs.ca and jobbank.gc.ca and found a lot of openings. I plan to email potential employers and discuss the possibility of working for them. But I guess I should get the approval of SRNA first before employers would consider me, right?
  23. Thanks! I read the thread and had second thoughts about the program. I hope to hear from people who actually became "scholars" of GSA. I want to know if it really is what it says to be and what the catch is...
