No jobs in florida for new grads
I am finding the same situation in the Sarasota area. I have put in resumes to the major hospitals and a few rehabs, and contacted a hospital inquiring about their new grad program. I have not heard from anyone of the places..not even a automated response. I am getting discouraged and want to start practicing.......

Help in Haiti ?
I am a RN graduate waiting to take my State Boards. I am feeling a "tug" to go and help the people of Haiti. Does anyone know of an organization which I can contact and find out if I can go and volunteer my skills?

Gift for Clinical Instructor
We had 10 in our group this semester and we pitched in $8.00 each and I went to the local engraver and had a plaque made that had her name and title, Spring 2009, a sentence about being a great clinical intructor, and our names...She loved it and has it on her office wall. It is more personal than a GC.

Am I too old to just be starting?
I think 30 is a great time to start NS. If I would have had a passion at 30 to pursue a nursing career, I would have many years of working in the nursing field and maybe would had gone further and studied for a Masters, or Doctrine. I think a bit of "maturity" (although, you are still young) helps when going to school. There can be alot of different "personalities" going through the program, from fellow students, to instructors and faculty, patients, and with others you'll encounter when doing clinical rotation. It is well worth it if nursing a calling. I will graduate in December at 55 years of age---10 years from retirement--and the knowledge that I will be practicing nursing soon keeps me going somedays when I feel as if I'm "just too old." Go For It!

3 Days Until 3rd Semester
I am entering my 3rd semester; which in my RN program it is the most difficult in as we do cardiac, respiratory, endocrine, and the hepatic and renal. I am apprehensive because I find these systems--cardiac and endocrine to be difficult to wrap my brain around the increases and decreases, the positive and negative--it seems to make my head spin. I have been studying fluids and electrolytes (which we will spend part of the first day on and we already touched on them in 1st--studiying ECG strips to try to get a jump on those....Any tips about major highlights for this semester??? I wish all of those returning after the holiday break and those going into first semester good luck and stick with it..."you are not alone." Thanks, Lynda

Nursing diagnosis for patient with DM 2?
Have you thought of "Impaired Skin Integrity" r/t circulatory impairment AEB draining wound? For the second dx, "Disturbed Body Image r/t physical changes AEB verbal concerns about amputation / altered view of body? Do you refer to any Nursing dx books?? If Disturbed Body Image doesn't fit, safety is always an issue--A "Risk For" can be used--no r/t would be needed, so "Risk For Injury"(she is weak and probably can't ambulate alone)......hope this helps.
