new grad... base pay/jobs?
HI everyone, Im sure this question has been asked MILLIONS of times, but i couldnt find my answer, so im wondering if you could help me out! Im originally from new england, but moved to FL with my husband when he joined the navy. now that hes out, we'd like to move back. I recently graduated in May with my ADN, passed my NCLEX, but I have no experience except for of course clinicals. How is the job market for new grads, and what is the base pay for ADN new grads? Im looking to work in southern new hampshire (manchester and below...) Thank you sooo much!

I saw the syllabi for our classes today... just LOOKING at it made me feel overwhelmed!

Thanks, My daughter went to the southside daycare last year, but i switched her to north campus and was able to get her in. I applied a couple weeks ago for the child care grant (the 80% one) but i still havent received anything about it? I'm hoping it comes in soon... bc childcare can get expensive!

I went on amazon.... and didnt see that great of deals? maybe you took them all, tmooney! lol I individually priced out all the books in the box on amazon, and it came out to $ 404... butthen i'd have to buy the online access codes as well, so that ended up bringing it to $512.... and I'm still not sure if I'd rather just pay the $617 to get brand new books all in one shot... or if its worth the $100 bucks to do them individually.... i do think im gonna order the books thats DONT come in the box on amazon though. so much stuff to do still! does anyone bring their kids to the on-campus daycare? I just registered for ym classes, my last name begins with a B though... so maybe i'm at the top of the list and thats why? I say you try after lunch, future.

FCCJ SPRING 2010
Whos your Dr. at NS?? I went there on Monday to get mine drawn and when i went back on wednesday to get my PPD read 2/5 were already done! theyre pretty quick. But I was told by CP that all you need is something showing that you got them drawn and they are pending. I had my Dr print out the lab report. CONGRATS on your daughter... is she your first?

FCCJ SPRING 2010
lol, sounds like we are on the same page! Im waiting to buy my polo at the orientation too, and I'm also waiting until they get the missing peice to buy my skills kit. Hopefullt they get it in soon so I can finish up my to-do list! btw does anyone know what a hemostate is? I saw we need it in our pocket protector.

well girls, im starting to finish up the last of the things on my check list! My Dr gave me a paper showing that my titers are pending, so im safe on that.... I got my uniforms in the mail yesterday! I tried them on and they were just a LITTLE big, i washed them in hot water and now they fit perfectly! so just alittle trick if yours are the same way. I got my stethoscope a few days ago in the mail... i ordered a PEDIATRIC one by accident! Its nonrefunable/nonexchangable now bc i got it engraved, so i guess im stuck with it. It seems the only difference is that the chest peice is alittle smaller... oh well. if it starts to bug me ill just have to fork out the extra money for another one. Thats about it, Im handing in my paperwork today, very excited to be DONE with it! next step: orientation! how is everyone coming along with their stuff?

FCCJ SPRING 2010
ok great! I'm heading to the clinic now (my husband works at JAX but my dr is in mayport) to get my TB shot read, hopefully when i go they can get me a copy of something that says i did get the titers drawn. No, my husbands only been in for 5 years, I've learned ALOT about military life in those years, but I'm sure you know a heck of alot more than me by now! I'll let you know how it goes, i think my uniforms are supposed to come today too (crossing my fingers!!)

FCCJ SPRING 2010
ok well, the pocket protectors at the book store are $5 for an empty one, and $9 for one that comes with the scissors, penlight, and a regular pen, in case anyone was wondering. I went to buy mine on medisave and the shipping was $10 bucks? I'll be buying mine at the book store i think. what exactly comes in the skills kit? and btw, THANK YOU FUTURERNMOM! I totally didnt see the deadline for the paperwork, so if you hadnt said anything, i wouldnt have turned my paperwork in on time! I though it was due on orientation. My titers arent coming in until the middle of next week, but i talked to the nursing dept and they said that should be fine, as long as i have everything else in order to turn in.
-
FCCJ SPRING 2010
zeta, did you tell the nursing program that it would take 2.5 weeks to get your titers back? and what did they say? I'm having the same problem, I have everything done except my titers are set to come back sometime in the middle of next week, but the paperwork i due dec 7th! ill have to call them today.
-
FCCJ SPRING 2010
Oh no Future, im so sorry!! are you and your daughter ok?? car accidents are such a pain in the butt, especially with all the nursing stuff you have to cover too! I hope you guys are okay! Its good that you got all your paperwork turned in now then, huh? i thought we were supposed to turn it in at oreintation, though?
-
FCCJ SPRING 2010
im alittle confused about the physical exam form. It has a space for immunizations, but i thought if our titers came back positive, we dont need those?
-
FCCJ SPRING 2010
btw- they also sell the pocket protectors at the bookstore, not sure how much they were bc i didnt get one. I wouldnt reccomend going to office depot though, bc i think it has to be a "medical" one or whatever, one that can hold the bandage scissors and things like that. not sure though... i think the ones in the bookstore came equiped with everything you needed in it (including the ruler) also, the one who said they bought their organizer on medianet (i didnt look at the sn, sorry) is it called an "organizer kit" on there? thanks!

FCCJ SPRING 2010
jeez, i guess i got ripped off! i got my BP cuff at the bookstore at north campus, it was $24 bucks... but i didnt have to pay shipping, so maybe thats why? oh well, theres no refunds so im not gonna worry about it.
