  1. I as well graduated from a 2nd degree BSN program. I have been in Boston since August, applied to over 15 hospitals and have had no luck!! The problem is multi-faceted, but mainly due to an economic decline forcing hospitals to cut back, and there being so many new graduates in the area (secondary to many nursing schools). I have recently heard that many hospitals won't be hiring again until June. So if you are willing to wait until then, you may be in OK shape. You may have better luck than I, but I wish I had the warning I am giving you. Cheers!
  2. Have you considered becoming a doula? Some clinical studies show that women's time spent laboring is decreased with the aid of a doula. It is very holistic, is a great way to help out in your local community, and would be great experience for someone wanting to go into L&D.
