  1. Hey guys congrats on getting into the nursing program at grayson, it's an awesome program. My name is Melissa, I graduate from the LVN program this Friday! I was wondering if any of you guys were interested in buying any of my books from this year... if you are let me know & we can work out some kind of deal. Congrats guys, it will be a rough but awesome year! My email is [email protected] if you wanna know about the books.
  2. I don't think so. I went to shsu for 2 yrs before starting nursing school at a community college and i dont ever remember hearing anything about it.
  3. Does anyone know of any good spanish teaching programs other than the expensive Rosetta Stone that is based more on the nursing field? I'm looking for maybe cd's, dvds, books, basicially ways to listen while I'm working out w/ an ipod or driving?
  4. To all those who have previously worked as a cna, tech, or some other patient care tech... SHUT UP! Seriously, if you already knew it all you would already be the nurse! Why can't you just learn it and do it the way you are being taught? Not everyone in the class is interested in how you do it where you work! Seriously!
  5. Luckily I qualified for financial aid through my school. I was able to get the pell grant and also applied for a student loans. It's paying for my classes, supplies, books, and I still have a few thousand to try and make it by. Also check into your locak workforce for a WIA program. They help "low income" adults or some other requirements you could meet and they will pay for EVERYTHING (classes, books, uniforms, supplies, gas... etc.) It's a great deal if you qualify and apply for it in advance.
  6. I'll be 24 when I'm done w/ LVN... 26 for RN
  7. that would be great... good luck!
  8. I just went and picked up all my books... looking through them made me remember how overwhelmed I felt at orientation.
  9. I would keep it all. I've been keeping all my books/notes since my prereqs. It's just nice to have them all as reference.
  10. I start on the 24th... a long time coming. We had our orientation way back on July 19th so I've been so overwhelmed since. Finally tomorrow we are able to purchase our textbook packages from the campus bookstore. So excited, better get started on the dosage assignments due first day of class!
  11. Hi! Anyone else start the lvn program at grayson this fall? Just looking to see if I have any buddies.
  12. I think it's all about how much heart you put into it. Been to college for 2 years before I quit, 2.5 gpa... went back last semester for nursing & been making straigt A's ever since. My daughter now is my biggest motivation. Find what is gonna make you push yourself to the max.
  13. Right. I was told to come back 72 hours later.
  14. I'm with you. Right now I stay home with her but that will change once I work part time. She will stay home with daddy still while I'm working & in class. We've been lucky enough to work our schedules around putting her into some kind of daycare. And I too plan to go back for the bridge program to RN once she's in school.
