Kennestone Interview Experience
I briefly worked for WellStar Cobb Hospital and it was the worst 3 weeks of my life. The work was extremely hard and no one to help you with patient care on certain patients who clearly needed at least two staff. I was the only person on my floor who had English as a primary language. Everyone else had accents that I could barely understand. I have nothing against foreign accents and own up to being an individual that has problems understanding accents. Additionally, items were stolen out of my purse. The management team was horrible and allowed a one day orientation shadowing a nurse. I was so disappointed and upset with myself for choosing to work at this facility. Everything literally falls on the nurse to do. Even taking your patient to MRI as well as other testing areas. Totally exhausted after leaving. I would not recommend this organization to anyone. Not even my dog. Karen

Anybody run into problems with preceptors because they are from an online program?
Hi ChristineN...... Georgetown does not have an online NP program. It's only MSN. The guy from the school of nursing called me about 3-4 weeks ago as per my inquiry. He specifically stated that they only have the MSN online. Karen.

Trach Patient
As a Nurse Educator may I suggest that you get with your manager or mentor and be truthful with them. Tell them that you are uncomfortable and that you need additional training. You should have been checked off as competent before even being given such a patient. It is going to be up to you to protect your license. You should not be accepting any patients that you are not competent to take care of, and there is nothing wrong with saying so. Your manager will respect you for it and seek out help for you until you are comfortable. Remember to do no harm. You want your patients safe and well.

Just so worried things aren't going to work out.....
Pull yourself together and be strong girl. You are going to worry yourself right out of a great career, not to mention the opportunity to give a little bit of yourself to others. So stop cryin' the blues :cry:and make a commitment to self and keep on moving. There will always be obstacles in life.
