  1. I have been told I might be starting my pre-nursing classes at a local hospital RN program in May. I should be happy, but I'm scared to death. My DF's hours have been cut at his job and he might not even have a job after April. I was prepared mentally for school and then this happens. Then, I read an article stating there wasn't a nursing shortage and jobs are hard to find. I've given up hope for ever having a successful future fulfilling my passion. Sorry for all my venting
  2. I'm not a nurse yet, but something I think is helpful is to ask your student to carry a little notebook. Anytime, she/he has a question, concern, comment- write it down. Towards or at the end of the shift, you two can go over what happened over the course of the shift. You can explain things you did and why you did them, she/he can ask questions. My friend did this and said it worked well because it did not interrupt the nurse during critical times and there was more time at the end to answer questions without interruption.
  3. This seems like some bad judgment on the doctor's part. Please correct me, if I'm wrong. I think you did everything in your power to help keep him comfortable. Please don't be hard on yourself. :redpinkhe
  4. Don't let anyone stop you. I've had too many friends/family members discouraging me from nursing because I am "too sensitive." If you let people tell you that over and over you feel less capable. Follow your heart, not society's "rules." Thanks for serving this country!
  5. Hey. I was just wondering your job has been affected by the economy recently? less overtime available, working less days, no raises, etc....
  6. 4 months to find a job? I thought the market was wide open for nurses?? Congrats on your job. It is impossible to remember every small detail you learned in school, unless you are Lexi on Grey's Anatomy.....
  7. The deadline has already passed
  8. I have just recently gotten the money to apply for Spring 09. I hope it's not too late . Do you think alot of people will be applying for the Spring semester?
  9. Hey. I am going to start nursing school in 2009. I can't tell you how happy I am. I'm finally pursuing my passion :redbeathe. So here is my dumb question for the boards...I have been told by my friends and family that I am too sensitive for ER work, but this is what *think* I want to do. Any advice? Next, how many times have you had to go to the morgue? The thought of a dead body popping up scares me senseless. I'm so proud to finally join the ranks here!!!!
