Applying to Mountainside Hospital School of Nursing?
No such luck this is my first bachelors. At least by the end of this semester and all the pre-req nightmare classes are over. But I agree having an employer pay would have been the way to go. The bill from Caldwell.... let me just say I'll be seeing that nasty sucker for years. Another reason I'd like to be team Mountainside. lol So your almost done! Wow that has to feel amazing. Are you going to apply for an externship?

Thanks Mo! I don't really do the club thing I have kids which kills the free time and I'm not much of a "joiner" lol. Can I be TEAM MOUNTAINSIDE too? I only picked Caldwell for Mountainside. :)

Applying to Mountainside Hospital School of Nursing?
They just started this Nursing Club I was told: "The club will give nursing students visible identity, sense of belonging to Caldwell College particularly when 3rd and 4th year they spend most of their time at the Hospital. We can deseminate information much coherently as a group than as an individual." the giving of "coherent information" seems to still be a miss. lol In the first meeting the students were told that the grading processes was different because "you wouldn't want a nurse who only kind of got it to be your nurse" This was from a current nursing student. I have not idea what to expect because Caldwell has yet to really provide us with any solid information. That's why I reached out here. To be honest it's been pretty frustrating over at Caldwell. It seems as if no one ether know what is up or they are just not telling us.

Applying to Mountainside Hospital School of Nursing?
Thanks Lovelymo79 that was helpful. :) I had no idea that they were two totally separate programs. According Caldwell's "Nursing Club" the grading policy is the same as Mountainsides. eek. I'm going to need a continuous supply of TUMS to get through what lies ahead! Thanks again for your help!

Applying to Mountainside Hospital School of Nursing?
Hey I was wondering if your currently at Mountainside? I start in the Fall this year and I would love to hear your thoughts or any advice you may have. :) What RNNewJersey said about the grading system really does scare the hell outta me. Do you feel like there is support from your instructors there? I have been told at Caldwell which is where I am now that there was a pathology class that most everyone failed and they needed to hire a new instructor for the class. It's things like this that keep me up at night! I worked so hard to get there I would be crushed to not make it. Any thoughts you or anyone may have would be so appreciated! -A

Caldwell College BSN
Caldwell's program is still brand new and they are still working out the kinks. That said... I can't tell you about the clinical at Mountainside yet because I start that in the Fall but from what I understand they run from 7am till 1pm. but there is also other classes that need to be taken so I am not exactly sure what the schedule looks like. All the nursing courses are held at Mountainside hospital and all of the pre-reqs are done first at Caldwell. So you receive an advisor at Caldwell then you transition over to Mountainside and receive a different advisor there. The programs feel as if they are being run some what separate from one another. At times it feels as if the Caldwell students are out of the loop. Communication could be improved. Like I said I think they are still ironing out all the kinks. They require all the below courses to be completed before entering the clinical portion which starts one a year in the Fall. Public Speaking English Lit I & II Language of Art or equivalent Language of Music or Music History or eq. History Western Heritage I & II - no exceptions Concepts of math (a general basic plus algebra course) Intro to Philosophy Philosophy I General Psychology Sociology 101 Theology I & II A Intensive Writing Course for freshmen (usually waived for transfers) Anatomy and Physiology with Labs I & II Microbiology w Lab Chemistry (must be organic/bio/inorganic will not accept General Chem) Statistics (either Psy, Business, or Mathematical) the Psy is the best for those who aren't math fans :) Best of Luck Guys!! -A
