To start off with, the hospital told the recruiter it was 12 hour night shifts, ended up 8 hour days and being called off 30 min before shift. All the time. The manager trying to make me take ten patients, when everyone else had half that. But the worst part was being treated so terribly because of my race. I never, ever, in my life experienced such hateful treatment from another human being. All the nurses were nice to me, most were locals, and they were wonderful. None cared too much for these two particular managers either, but didn't receive quite the treatment i did, being they were in the union. One of the managers actually accused me of treating a patient badly, which I would never do. I ended up sobbing to my recruiter on the phone and she got me out of my last couple of weeks. I'll never forget what she did to me, but I'm not going to let one persons actions stop me from traveling and doing what I love to do, taking care of people.
  2. I'm prn at my home hospital, and it's great because I usually get full time hours, luckily my hospital requirements are 12 shifts a year. If my hospital didn't have that, I would look for one that comes close to it, you have so much freedom for travel assignments while still having the security of employment at home.
  3. I'm ordering more Go-Lytely, doesn't look like he's quite ready! Call me when it clears!

Looking to take another travel assignment soon. I've only done one assignment, and still nervous about what to expect. It was a pretty bad experience, even though it was in Hawaii. I'm interested in any advice I can get on anything from the phone interview to negotiating with the travel company, good hospitals to work for, basically any tips and advice i can get. I've read a good bit online, but it's always nice to hear about individual experiences!
  5. Thanks for the tip
  6. Call and speak with (moderator edit of name) in the ADN Dept. She's over the Nursing Program at Perk. She can direct you in the steps you need to take.
  7. Ha! I wish! God willing, I'll graduate in May! But you will love it at Perk....Jamie
  8. So it is the Perk campus you're going to attend? What's your name?
  9. which mgccc campus do you plan on attending?
  10. So you're moving soon? Hope I didn't read the wrong one again...I'm tired!
  11. 2nd year student in mgccc's adn program, perkinston campus. i live in saucier, and currently i'm working in the er, which is great. summer's sure going by too fast, but god knows, i'm ready to graduate and get on with it!!!
  12. Is this Jennie V.? I'm going into third level at Perk in August. Yeah, I just don't want to carry around that HUGE book for two more semesters, so I was looking for the two volume set and got lucky to find it so cheap, and it's only $20 more than it would be to rent them. I'll just sell them when I'm done. Oh, and that skills book we had to have...if that wasn't a big waste of $95! I also have two care plan books, and only one regularly, gonna try to sell the other to a 1st level this fall, and if I had known I could have checked out the one I use, from the library, I'd have saved $50 there too!Well, best of luck to ya!
  13. just get a bookbag with wheels!!! btw, i'm at perk too.
