  1. Hey everyone, I started this thread 18 months ago, and this week finished my MSN. I went through with no breaks, and it flew by. I am glad to have it behind me, but the experiences were great! I highly recommend the program.
  2. I ended up with a B+ in this class, the lowest grade I have made so far at UoP, I missed A minus by 1 point. I don't ever want to take a class like that again. I really had trouble rapping my head around it. But my next two classes have been great. I have 5 classes left (March 2008).
  3. Has anyone taken HCS 571- Financial Resource Management. This is my 6th or 7th class, it is a killer. I have no financial background, and we have to develop a business plan complete with all the financial stuff. My GPA is 4.0 to date, but to be honest, I will be happy to get a B in this class.
  4. I am sure you did fine, I think the interviews are perfunctory. I wish you luck, and let us know.... We newbies need to stick together
  5. Just got the call from HR It's official !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Well, I had my interview yesterday, they told me it would be three weeks before a decision was made, but the supervisor called to give me the unofficial offer this morning. I have to wait for HR to get the official offer, but looks good. I will be the inpatient nurse case manager for the ICU! I will be working with a very seasoned social work case manager and sharing an office with her, I can't wait!
  7. I have an interview for a nurse case manager position, what can I expect from the interviewers? I have been a nurse for 17 years, in many positions including nursing instructor.
  8. i am currently in the msn program at uofp. it is a great program, but very hard work. you need good writing and research skills to get through the program and must be able to do your work with little help from the instructors.
  9. Thanks for the info, I will add it to my list. I appreciate it. Bryan
  10. Thanks everyone for your input to date. I will start with these suggestions and come back and let everyone know how it's going, and if other questions come up. I appreciate everyone's imput. Bryan
  11. I am looking to take a group of student nurses to the UK to visit a nursing program and hospital. I would like to hear from some nurses with recommendations. Money is definitly a consideration as I am trying to get the experience for as little as possible. What I have in mind is staying either in the school dorms(if possible) or maybe staying at the home of the students. It will probably be a group of 7 students. Do you have any school suggestions, travel suggestions, etc? Thanks, Bryan
  12. I will be first in line to support higher wages for nursing faculty, but playing the devils advocate, the other faculty at the college don't think it fair to pay nursing faculty higher wages than they recieve. How do we as a group demonstrate that the education we provide because of the skills taught in nursing school demands that we be paid equal atleast to clinical staff?
  13. Here's my worth. I have been a nurse for 16 years, and just began a master's program and I just accepted a position as a full time nursing instructor at a BSN program here in NC. The position is a nine month position, and is ~$15000 less than than I currently make. I have been assured that when I complete my masters program a raise would be forthcomming. I have decided to keep my present position at the hospital on a prn basis to make up the difference, and would only have to work every other weekend during the school term and pick up some extra shifts in the summer to make up the difference. I always said I would not make life changing decisions based on the $$, and in the end, being an educator is the right move for me despite the poor pay.
  14. Nursing is full of people your age and much older, there are so many disciplines in nursing, it is possible to work until YOU decide to quit.
  15. All the Prayers worked, Thanks a bunch! Please See my next post for further details Wahoo, I have a full time faculty position.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. I just got off the phone with the Dean of Barton College School of Nursing in Wilson NC. I was offered a full time teaching position, and am on cloud nine. As many of the frequent readers know I have a BSN and am just starting my MSN program, and I never thought I could land a full time faculty position so quickly. Two weeks ago, I thought all the doors were closed, and even finding a adjunct faculty position would be difficult, then, poof, this position came available and I was at the right place at the right time. I will be taking over the skills lab, teaching some of the fundamentals lectures and doing 2 clinicals a week, and student advising. Thanks for all the support I recieved from you all in the past 2 weeks, and I am proud to be associated with you as a peer (albeit a junior peer).:balloons:
  17. Those of you regulars have probably seen my name over the past few weeks writing about my frustration in finding a position at a college. Well, the stars all lined up and today I had an interview with the dean of the nursing program, and it went well, and this afternoon she asked me if I could meet with her and the VP of academic affairs in the morning. I hope this is a good sign, and a full time faculty position is coming my way. Please say a prayer for me tonight if you are enclined, I would appreciate it. :) :)
  18. TRENNARN You are just the person I was hoping would join the discussion. How is the first class going? Are you taking the intro to Grad studies class? What are the assignments like? What are the Prof's like(no names please). Thanks for joining!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. Yep, at PCMH. I am just beginning my MSN program at Univ of Phoenix and am looking for a faculty position.
  20. There actually is a formal way to sign your name. The proper way to sign your name if you are a BSN is Your Name, BSN, RN There was a posting addressing this exact subject earlier do a search for the posts and find it. The rational was degrees are forever, licenses can be given up or taken away. Finally certifications are time limited so they follow the licenses. Hope this helps.
  21. Way to go, now change your log on to something befitting your status :balloons: :balloons: :balloons:
  22. :balloons: :balloons: :balloons: :balloons: :Welcome To the ranks of RN:
  23. Thanks for responding, where are you nursing now?
  24. Here's one I read the other night MALE BY BIRTH NURSE BY CHOICE
