  1. Well I missed out for mid-year start (didnt even get an interview.. was told they wouldnt look at my app as being overseas)..but reapplied with little hope (again told by all bar one hospital that they wouldnt look at my app..) and finally got a job at the PA! I'm so excited!!!!!
  2. I would declare it anyway. They will surely not care about it.. however if you dont declare it and they find out..THAT is when you will have issues.
  3. Best thing to do would be to would be contact the NZ nursing council http://www.nursingcouncil.org.nz/ and find out whether you can work as a RN (Registered nurse) or an EN (Enrolled nurse) or if they don't cross credit.
  4. I know for mid year intake they had a few positions still not filled for the new grad program in christchurch http://www.cdhb.govt.nz/gnp/ maybe would be the same for next year (applications have closed i think, but if they have space they would probably still consider yours.) Also worth looking up Auckland, Wellington and Dunedin (as they are the main centres). Contact the employers and they will be able to give you a more straightforward answer.
  5. Sorry could you please explain what a BSN/ASN is, as we must call them something different over here.
  6. The formula we use is: What you want (0.5g = 500mg) x what it comes in (1 tablet) what you have (250mg) 500/250 = 2 2 x 1 = 2 tablets This site has a calculator you can practise with/explains it a touch better. http://www.nzortal.co.nz/hotlinks/calcs.php And this site has a few you can practice with (including answers ) http://www.healthfirst.org.nz/cantiv/documents/pdf/remedial-calculations.pdf
  7. Out of those ones I'd say Brisbane..but brisbane has a fair bit of rain... or potentially Perth. I love Brisbane though (and I've been told I would love melbourne). Sydney is too big, busy and expensive..
  8. Ah right, yeah I found that one but I'm interested in hearing first hand from people who have worked in any of the hopsitals. Thanks
  9. No sorry I haven't.. where abouts do I find that??
  10. Hi there, I'm going to graduate middle of the year (in NZ) and going to move to Brisbane after this. I've looked at the graduate nursing programme website and the hospitals websites but you don't get a lot of info from the biased hospital written bios. I'd appreciate any info from people who've worked/do work in Brisbane hospitals on what they are like to work at etc (and if anyone has any info specific to new graduate programmes please let me know). At the moment I've just focused on public ones, but if there are any private hospitals that are good to new grads I'd love to hear about it! Thanks guys! :)
  11. In new zealand in order to actually become an RN you have to sit a final exam run by the nursing council, this is what I am refering to - or any nursing finals in general.
  12. There would probably be some form of final exam I'm guessing. Through the process of elimination it should have been clear I was talking about NZ, not Australia then. Thanks for all the tips, great to be a member of such a friendly community.
  13. Australia and **NZ** forum. The NZ one, but im fairly sure the principles and exam would be fairly similar in most countries, especially Australia. It (the exam) used to be called "States".
  14. Whilts I'm not sitting it until about July I was flicking through some previous questions (which dont come with answers) and it made me feel like I know so little. I want to start studying soon so I can cover everything.. well I'll never cover everything.. but I'll get a lot more done.. but I don't even know what or how.. I've been awful at my exams so far when it comes to studying. What are some tips? How'd you find the exam?
