  1. Does anyone know if I have a California License what I have to do to work in Arizona?
  2. I'm in California, I was a certified surgical tech when I worked as a G.I. lab tech for 6yrs. After getting my R.N. license, I applied for several G.I. R.N. positions but was never even called for an interview.
  3. I'm very much interested in O.R. nursing and would like to know what it was you didn't like about it. I am a new grad with the same problems of many others, fearing how hard I've found it to find employment and was lucky to get hired at a psych hospital I did my clinicals at and hopefully if all goes well I will be starting in two weeks. I am on a county list for a new grad O.R. training program if the funds are ever made available, which frankly, I've given up holding my breath for.
  4. As an "x" hospital worker the best advice I can give you is, DON'T MAKE WAVES, I paid dearly for the waves I made!
  5. The only way to get G.I. experience is working in a G.I. Dept. My experience is as a tech only, but I am real interested in working as G.I. R.N. Good Luck, Janet
  6. Pacific Alliance, Verdugo Hills, California Hosp., Shriners, Childrens hosp., Las Encinas...these are just a few that I can recall from the Los Angeles campus but I'm sure you can call the school and ask. Also, another thing you might want to know, you have to test out of every course and your given two chances, should you have to retake a class (and many do) it cost between $4,000 - 8,000 more added to your loan of course unless you pay cash. The good part is that the passing rate for NCLEX is above the 90% catagory.
  7. The clinical sites are plenty and relatively well spread out throughout the L.A. area, San Fernando and San Gabriel Valley's, mainly central L.A. but your right I just graduated and I know a lot of things may change due to the move. The cost is now up to I believe $68,000. If you want my opinion as a very recent WCU grad, I'd say find a less expensive place and believe me there's no need to rush, just ask any of the many, many new grads that are seeking employment as a new R.N. grad in the L.A. area. That's one thing WCU doesn't tell you, we're all still wanting to believe that "there's a great nursing shortage", but now we know, not in California.
  8. Hello Endo Tech. I am in exactly in the same position as you are. I thought I would easily be able to find a job as a new grad and if that didn't work for sure a G.I. R.N. will all the experience I have in G.I., but now all I'm hearing is about budget cuts and no new Grad proram openings, experience required as a G.I. R.N., and worst of all I live in California where I'm told that on top of everything else, I'm living in the hardest hit state as far as "financial budgets" go. All the G.I. job postings I see are for techs and LVN's. Now I'm really regretting going back to school (never thought I'd say that). Good Luck!!
