Anyone starting Regis College, MA this fall 2011
Congrats VTknt! I guess we will be classmates come this fall! I have been out of the loop for quite some time as well...but it was time to take the plunge and go back to school. I currently work as an MA for a Dermatology practice in Wellesley. I've heard great things about Regis and look forward to the fall. I hear it is an extremely intense program as it is accelerated. Do you plan to work at all part time? They have a full time day and evening option. I'm hoping to do the evening program as I can probably fit in about 15 hours a week of work during the day, plus I'm not a morning person. I will private message you later...maybe we could exchange info and chat:-)

Regis College in Weston, MA starting fall 2011...
Hello, I am starting the Accelerated Masters Program, Direct entry in Regis College this fall 2011. I was hoping to get an insight into program and also possible advice on succeeding in nursing school. I currently work as a medical assistant in a dermatology office and I love it. I plan to work about 16hrs per week maximum while I'm in school. Regis has a fairly flexible schedule with possible evening courses. I would love to meet other newly accepted students to Regis College. I've heard great things about the school and am very excited about starting this fall! :)

Regis College Information
Hi KIMRRT! Congrats to you! I was hoping to meet new friends before the start of the program since I'm sure we have a long journey to look forward to. It's nice to be able to share experiences with someone who would understand. Did you say you graduated from NU in 2010?...did you mean a different year?...I graduated from NU too in...it seems so long ago...2004. Since then I've been in clinical research. After the last couple of years I decided I needed a new challenge in my life and I really found I love working with people especially in a therapeutic role. We did a lot of clinical trials and I had the opportunity to meet hundreds of patients, who truly inspired me. Nursing is an incredibly diverse, complicated, and very well rewarding profession. But you certainly have to really love it to be successful. I'm sure that can be tough considering all the factors. To be honest, although I am extremely excited about the aspect of become a nurse practitioner, I am also terrified! It's a tough program and not everyone can make it through. I do feel at this point I am ready for the challenge. I mean just the application process itself was nerve-wrecking lol.

Hi gis0610! I actually did receive my acceptance letter!....it was 2 days before Christmas! To be honest I really didn't expect to hear from them so soon, so it was a really nice surprise! I am really excited! It really takes a load off. So now I can basically plan the new year in terms of my finances and living arrangements..ect. Never thought I'd say it...but I can't wait to go back to school! Did you apply to other schools? Regis was my first choice. I did apply to Simmons and MGH as well. Where did you do your undergrad? I graduated from Northeastern. I still have one more prerequisite to take in the spring then I'm basically done. Are you planning to attend the info session Jan. 25? I'd love to stay in touch since it looks like we will be classmates:) Feel free to PM or email me.

Happy Holidays everyone! Christmas certainly came just in time for me this year.....I just got my acceptance letter to my first choice nursing school yesterday, Christmas eve! Who could ask for a better gift!! What a perfect ending to a long year! I've worked so hard to make it this far and I cannot wait to embark on my new journey to become a nurse. Anyways I just wanted to share my little piece of happiness with you all and I truly hope that your holiday season is filled with love, joy, and of course health!

Regis College in Weston early decision due Dec. 7, 2009? Anyone apply?
What does that mean deferred? Are you on a waitlist? I do know that being waitlisted is way better than getting a flat rejection. Escpecially since the school is rolling admission and classes don't start until fall 2010, chances of them offering you a spot could be likely. I know students who were waitlisted from Regis and ended up getting in after a few months. I remember you said at your interview they suggested you take the GRE over? Was this the reason? I'm still waiting for a letter......maybe it's lost

Hey BananaNapkin, I'm not sure which area in Mass you're from, but here in Salem we got well over a foot of snow! I'm basically snowed in. Lots of time to think I guess!....January is quickly approaching so the 11th will be here in a few of weeks. Have you heard anything from the other two schools you applied to, MGH or BC? I read on the MGH website they had an overwhelming response this year in terms of applications to the accelerated program. You can read the article on their website. It goes to show how much interest the nursing programs have attracted the past couple of years, especially the accelerated programs. I'm trying to be realistic in my pursuit to get accepted to a good nursing program. Although I am hopeful that I will get that thin envelop from Regis with good news, I need to try to think of alternatives. Just in case. I could probably benefit from retaking the GRE over to get a better score and maybe take chem II over..... I guess we'll see what happens in the next few weeks. I hope all is well with you. Let me know if you've got any news- good or bad. The support from individuals going through similiar ordeals can go a long way.

Regis College in Weston early decision due Dec. 7, 2009? Anyone apply?
I had my appointment with the director of graduate admissions. It was very laid and despite my low GPA, she was extremely approachable and very encouraging. I left the meeting feeling like I could get in. But I mean I'm sure they have to be that way if they are representing the school. It's still a very scary process. I'm totally on edge. Especially after seeing the high interest in the program at the graduate info session. Nursing is very competitive in general, especially with the economy more and more people are changing careers or going back to school. So DelphiniumRN are you currently in a nursing program? How do you feel about it so far? Any suggestions for those of us waiting impatiently hoping to get in?

Regis College in Weston early decision due Dec. 7, 2009? Anyone apply?
LOL......yes I know the feeling....stalking the mailman and the hitting the refresh button every five minutes has become a sad daily routine. Feel better or at least sane that I'm not alone. I think they mail most of the acceptance letters from what Ive read at least in the beginning since it's rolling admission. For some who go on the wait-list, I heard they email. I read somewhere there was a very long wait list last year. But who knows? Did they happen to mention how many applicants they received for early admission? or how many they expect? I know last year overall they had 250 applicants, and accepted 65.

Thanks Julie! I actually thought of you when I was thinking about acceptance to Regis, you're name just popped up! I sent you a PM, but you just answered my question, so thank you:) I hope I get a "regular letter/thin envelope" soon!

Regis College in Weston early decision due Dec. 7, 2009? Anyone apply?
I actually had the first appointment or interview with the school last year in the fall.....so it was a while ago. At that time I still had prerequisites to take and my GPA was pretty low and hadn't taken the GRE yet...I really wasn't much of an applicant. But she encouraged me to take some of the science classes over and schedule the GRE, which took me a year. Now that I've done all that, I feel better, but still don't have a good solid feeling about acceptance. I wish there was some kind of sign lol....... But did she really say they would try to get letters out before Xmas? I'm hoping to, but I'm a little scared at the same time about not being accepted. I wonder if it would be a thick or thin envelope......

Regis College in Weston early decision due Dec. 7, 2009? Anyone apply?
Hey Banananapkin, So I just found out that if you had an interview with one of the advisors BEFORE you submitted your application, that will count toward your interview portion. So they will not contact you for a second interview. Basically I got an email saying letters will go out before Jan. 11......back to square one. I hope we all get some GOOD news before the end of the year. That would be the greatest gift ever:)

Regis College Information
Has any applicant for the 2010 fall class actually receive an acceptance letter or had an interview with Regis? I applied for early decision last week and have not yet heard anything from them. I did meet with the advisors before turning in my application, so would this count as an interview? So in that case am I just waiting for an acceptance or a rejection letter in the mail at this point? I had emailed the school yesterday but have not gotten a response. Is that a bad sign? Am I just being paranoid? My application is a bit on the weak side and I am wavering about my chances of getting accepted. I wish there was something more I could do.....I guess it all really depends on the strength of other applicants. If you have an experience or an advice you'd like to share, I'd love to hear from you:)

Regis College in Weston early decision due Dec. 7, 2009? Anyone apply?
Banananapkin - congrats on getting the interview over with, sounds like it went well:) I definitely would relax until after you get a decision to worry about retaking the GRE. The test is stressful enough, you don't need the extra pressure. Juliewoo- which nursing school did you decide to attend? and what were the reasons for your choice? How do you like the program so far? I know it's only been exactly one week since Regis got my application, but frankly I'm getting very worried, I haven't heard anything from them, except an email confirming they received everything. I don't have the strongest application and Regis is the only school I applied to. I really really want to get in. I've had to retake some of the science classes, so before applying I manage to get all A/Bs for the prereqs. The GPA and GRE are just mediocre. This is just driving me nuts....the waiting...and wondering...Im tempted to email them again, but that would just by annoying on my part, we'll see what happens this week......

Regis College in Weston early decision due Dec. 7, 2009? Anyone apply?
Hey Allie, Doesn't it feel good to turn in your application?....the hard part is waiting though. I have absolutely no patience. If you don't mind me asking, how strong was your application? Did you do well in the GREs and GPA? We were trying to get an idea of what they would find acceptable. I know it is all about balance, but my application is somewhat in the weak end. My GRE- 990 and GPA 2.8, but I've had 4 years of clinical/research experience since undergrad. I really do feel like I've changed since then, and I have a strong interest in nursing, hopefully this will show in my application. I'm just so nervous because Regis is the only college Ive applied to this year. Did you apply to other schools?

Regis College in Weston early decision due Dec. 7, 2009? Anyone apply?
Ok I feel better now, I'll just stare at my phone all week.... Actually I just emailed the director...to check on my status. I've met her before and they're all really nice, so I'm sure the interview should be a breeze for you. I'd like to have a decision made before Christmas if possible, only because I can't seem to focus or really enjoy the holidays with this hanging over me. Probably a little too anxious of me! But yeah Regis is known for their quick turn around time in the applicaiton process. Anyways, you're gonna have an awesome interview tomorrow! Let me know how it goes.....

Regis College in Weston early decision due Dec. 7, 2009? Anyone apply?
Oh that's great! I think the interview part should be just fine, just be yourself, answer truthfully and if you really have a passion for nursing it should come easy. I'm sure you'll do great! So you contacted them for an interview? I didn't know we could do that. I thought we had to wait until they emailed or called us to set up the interview. My GRE scores are still pending so I'm sure if my application is complete or not. I think I'll try to email them too see what's going on. I've heard that they basically give you a decision shortly after you have an interview, like within a week or so.

Regis College in Weston early decision due Dec. 7, 2009? Anyone apply?
Hey BananaNapkin! So I went to the info session last night at Regis, were you there? It was somewhat informative, but I still don't really have an idea of how many applications they received for early decision. It seems they are still apparently very open to new applications, so they prob haven't reached anywhere near their quota or whatever.....so we may have a chance......unless these other applicants are really really strong. There seemed to have been a lot of interest in the program at the info session. I received an email confirming they received my application for early decision but it won't be complete until they get the official GRE scores, which should get to them next week. I'm hoping to hear from them soon. Just to have a feel for by chances of getting in. Have you heard anything from them? Jan 11 seems soooooo long. I feel so impatient.

Regis College in Weston early decision due Dec. 7, 2009? Anyone apply?
Hey there BananaNapkin, I am so happy you applied to my thread! I wasn't sure if I would get any response. Somehow there was much more hype last year.....although I was kinda just watching and waiting. I didn't want to apply until I finished most of my prerequs. And oh gosh the GRE was such a drag. I spent one whole month studying (I think you would need probably 2 months to really know your stuff). I didn't think I would do as well on the Math portion but I did alright. Thank god! My score on the verbal was much lower. Ironic, I'm so much better with words than numbers. I just freaked out and there were like 3 reading passages! It was awful. Im pretty sure they look at all aspects of your application equally. So grades and GRE would have to balance everything else. It's so funny how our profile is so similiar! I applied to MGH's accelerated program last year and got put on a waitlist. Apparently, MGH is a little more competitive and the acceptance rate is low. At that time I didn't finish retaking all of my classes, so my science grades looked poor. I also applied to Simmons College last year, they have a similiar program to Regis. I flatly got rejected. That was disappointing, but it pushed me to take the classes over and I do feel better this time around with my application to Regis. The early decision hopefully will be advantage to us somehow. I mean why push to apply early if it didn't help right? I think it also depends on the number of applicants who apply early too. Applicants who have a stronger application can afford to apply with rolling admission. So I think it was a good move on our part to apply early. I did go to there info session in October and it was very helpful. I think they require interviews for all applicants, at least that's what was said at the last info session. I think that would benefit us because Im so much better in person than I am on paper! Lol....Plus Im hoping to talk them into accepting me:) It would really really be nice to get an idea whether you get in or not by Christmas, but I doubt that would happen. They said response letters would be mailed by Jan. 11......that is soooo long! Keep me updated! If you learn anything new at the info session on Wednesday, let me know! Take care!

Regis College in Weston early decision due Dec. 7, 2009? Anyone apply?
I just mailed out my application packet today to Regis College in Weston, MA for their Accelerated Master's of Science in Nursing (NP program). My packet is basically complete with sealed transcripts, sealed recommendation letters, my resume, cv, and essay. The only thing that is pending is my official GRE scores. I took the GRE yesterday. I was only 10 measly points away from the required minimum score of 1000. My total score was 990 (420 verbal and 575 quantitative), although on the upside I think I did fairly well on the Analytical Writing portion. My GPA is 2.8 (they require about a 3.0), but I have retaken most of the prerequistes to improve my science grades (got A's/B's in all of them). I do have about 4 years of clinical experience in research and my recommendation letters are excellent. Although my application is somewhat weak, I think overall I've done a decent job of improving myself. Hopefully Regis will take all of that into consideration. I applied for their early decision deadline due Dec. 7, 2009. I wonder if this would benefit me in any way? Supposedly letters are mailed out by Jan. 11, 2010. I wonder how many applicants apply for early decision? Also, what is the actual advantage of applying for early decision as compared to waiting for rolling admissions? Is it less competitive or more? I went to one of their info sessions and learned that they receive about 200-300 applicants and 25% get accepted. Im just so nervous, the anticipation is killing me....plus Regis is the only school I'm applying to....so all the eggs are in one basket..lol Anyone else applying for nursing schools in the Boston or surrounding areas for 2010?

MGH Institute of Health Professions
Hi Julie, Congrats on getting accepted to Regis, I am actually applying this month. I got put on a waitlist for MGH. Honestly, the nursing program at Regis is excellent. You will be able to graduate with a MS and a BSN, which is great after 18 months you can take the exam to become an RN and work for a while then go back for your masters- you have like two years to do that. It gives you more options. Im nervous about applying....I still have to take the GRE at the end of Feb. When did you apply to Regis? Roni

MGH Institute of Health Professions
Hi Colleen, I've read your posts from last year...the group thread was interesting. I am just so nervous about not getting in. I called about it and was told they received over 400 applicants this year and there are only 50 seats available. My GPA is not great (2.53), but I have about four years of clinical experience as a research assistant on my shoulders. My recommendation letters were great....so I don't know. What do you think? I keep over analyzing everything now...like my essay wasn't good enough or my science grades were too low. It could go either way. I'm wicked paranoid now. I was told we wont know til the end of December...this is going to drive my crazy. When did you get your letter? So you'll be graduating from the program in June 2009?...Im so excited for you. Are there 50 students in your class now? Pretty diverse group?

Hi there i was just wondering if you ended up applying to the BSN program for the May 2009 entry. I turned in my application material last week...
