first thing is do you have any college classes behind you. second, i'm in oklahoma, i had a choice of a.a.s rn or b.s.n. i chose the 3 year aas, one year of pre-req's and two years of nursing school. so you need to check the state that you plan to go to school in. i took a simple compass test and started class two weeks later. good luck bro and thanks for the serving your country

the easiest way to answer your question is to ask why did you want to become a nurse. i'll bet most of the same reasons apply for women as well as men

We are in the same boat. I'm 44 and I've just started my second semester in nursing school in Oklahoma. Buddy the things I could tell you about culture shock would take pages. People will talk to you about different types of classes but what you wont hear about is people our age and backgrounds trying to transition back to being students. I.E. instructors and students being younger and less experienced in the "real world". If it starts to get bad and you need to yell IM or [PM]It would be nice to have another male nursing student to vent at.

Bubba take it from years of experience, I'm 44, flirting is ok it helps you communicate. But do not date or have a fling with someone you work with these women talk and before you know it your reputation will be shot. Four years is a long time to be blown on one night

Melissa, everyone is giving you good advice on school so I'll go the other way. One of the most important things is going to be your support group. Try to find other people with the same interests and maybe you'll be in the same nursing class. What do your parents think about what you're plans? What I'm trying to say is talk it through and try to listen. (thats the number one skill of a nurse is to listen and understand) Once you make it into school get into a study group. More things are discussed in those groups than just studying it will help you keep your sanity

The 1+1 program is where you take LPN courses at an area vo-tech. After you complete that course you enter your third semester at OSU but you still have to apply for your first semester in order to get this offer.
