  1. Hey, okay this has nothing to do with nursing, but i need the advice and support of fellow nurses. I have a history presentation coming up, and I have to talk about the presidencies of Ford and Carter for 75 mins. Every presentation I have seen is always the same (they get up talk about powerpoint, then give notes/worksheet, and then a "review" game) In order for me to get an A i have to be EXTREMELY creative. I'm just way out of ideas. Please, I need your help. I need any creative ideas, anything that could help me. I'd appreciate it. thanks, Melissa.
  2. wow, thanks for all of that advice. Its been a few weeks, and I did actually choose to stay in school. I think because I'm so young that its okay to be unsure of everything; and I'm not sure if I will even pursue nursing. Most likely yes; but 100% no. I actually can't do a CNA until i'm 18 (where i live) and so i've decided to go to work with my mom and volunteer a few times this summer. I figure i really do need the expiernces before i make my mind up completely. Thanks again for the advice. I used it to my benefit.
  3. I appreciate everyone's opinion and advice. I'm deff taking all of it in. Yeah, I don't think really that money will be a problem because I will be applying for every scholarship i can get my hand on. Plus we get hope in Georgia. So it should be okay. Again thanks for the advice. I will continue to work hard, and continue highschool of course.
  4. Yeah, well like I've said. I'm not into dropping out of school. The only thing I would do is prob graduate school earlier. As in earn more credits faster. They offer something in summer time when you can take highschool, and earn more credits. plus i get credits from the internship.
  5. Where do you live? I live in Georgia. Yeah, so are you in college? What type of specilty are you going to go in? (if you know.) Well, they don't have very many fifteen year olds on this website. So sometimes i feel a little numbered out.. I just got back from the movies. I went and saw highschool musical 3. Corny i know but it was good.
  6. Oh, do you know what the pay is? Age requirments? What type of course is it? and how long?
  7. Wow, you deff. know your stuff. Yes, that sounds very difficult to come upon. It seems an endless wheel or moral distress to me. Thanks for all the info you've given me. I've had alot of advice and I think i'm gonna stick in with school, and just allow myself to try and enjoy the years I have. I just don't want to grow up to fast, and its inedivitable...that everyone says its best to just take the course. Maybe my senior year I might focus on taking half college- half highscool.
  8. Thanks so much for all your help. I appreciate it. Yeah, I feel stupid asking but what is a CNA? Yeah, I would have to give it alot of thought before I did something like that. Well, I'm gald your young too. : ) ha, we can relate to each other.
  9. Well, I'm not sure yet. But Its offered by my school, I'll have to look into it.
  10. Well, as you prob know college is very exspensive. So with two other sibilings that have to college also, is very difficult. Thanks for the advice both of you.
  11. Wow, congrats! That sounds so exciting. Especially for everyone who is out of highschool. But good luck.
  12. Hi. I'm Melissa. I'm fifteen years old, and I've dedicated the rest of my life to becoming a RN. I decided that about two years ago. I'm still in highschool and dreading it. I look up to everyone who is in nursing school or actually out onto the field. I would like some perspective from you guys on what nursing school is like. I'm a little younger...But I'm taking a internship this summer. What school are you in? What jobs are you taking? And what are goals you look for. See personally for me, things are a little bit harder. I'm only a sophmore in highschool and i'm dying to get out. I'm actually pursing graduating earlier, I would especially appreciate talking to someone who had graduated earlier or who can relate to my situation at all. I am looking forward to my internship this summer, has anyone taken one? Whats it like? Well, I would appreciate the advice from all of you. Thanks so much.
  13. Okay, So I've heard so much about nursing as a career; I've turned and commitedd to becoming a RN. But What i've limited to figuring out is what is the most important thing for me to do at such a young age to benefit myself until i get to college. Heres a little about me and my situation: I'm fifteen years old. I knew I wanted to be a nurse when I was twelve. I am a triplet (makes going to college a tad bit harder). I want to be a RN. Options I've already consitered: I figured I could drop out and get my GED. I figured I could take college and finish highschool at the same time. I've even considered just finishing highschool very quick and moving to college. I'm in need of advice. If you've dropped out and became a nurse. I need your advice especially. Anyone who has graduate early? Please just give the best advice you can, I would appreciate it.
  14. Wow! Thanks everyone for the advice and information you have given me. I wouldn't call myself smart but deff. lucky. Its hard to be mature at my school; not that I really care what people think of me but I'm scared I will miss out on a bunch of the highschool "memories". I am so in love with the nursing field. I've always wanted to help people ever since I was little and I finally found out what I wanted to do two years ago. I'm just wondering whether or not I have the guts, brain, and strength to complete high school early and go straigh forward into college. I deff. have the passion to do this, but I know college would be hard. It would be very stressful and I'm wondering whether to open that box or not. Did any of you graduate early? What are aides? and CNA's? Many have refered me to CNA's and I feel stupid for asking but I would be grateful to figure that one out. Well I just want my career path to be choosen right, and I want people to look at me and know that I carry myself well. Honestly I'm embarrasses of the kids that are my age. Sometimes I feel like i belong in another few decades. Its hard to try and be in highschool and know what I want to do. My teacher of my healthcare class was the one who told me I could take an internship this summer. I was extremly excited since my mother has alot of connections at the hospital. I also need advice on what type of a job to get this summer. I will barely be 16, I don't have much of any expiernce and I want it to relate to nursing. Yeah, I have a whole nother semester to learn even more, then junior and senior year I get the other classes!! I've even considered taking college while doing highschool, they offer that where i live. But I really need advice! If i really want to be a nurse in a few years I've got to get the show on the road! Thanks again everyone! It means alot.
  15. Wow thank both! That gave me quite the perspective on both sides. Yeah high school is not hard as in ciriculum wise but I just get so fed up with the people and the way some people treat me. I guess you could say I'm in between the popular kids and the nerd kids. I'm a little bit of both..although like you zar963 I would rather be neither. In college I figure myself as someone who will be studying quite alot but won't be afraid to have fun. My brother is in college right now and I envy him alot. I just don't think highschool is for me. I make A's and B's and I am pretty mature, although I am very funny and laugh a whole lot. Yeah, I was thinking about walking across the stage for graduation but I don't really like all the people in my class, I like maybe fifty or sixty out of like six hundred. So i figured why waste my time and walk with a bunch of people i don't like? But I'm very scared that I will miss out on a bunch but I'm hoping that once I get out of high school and move on I will be happier. I'm also very scared though because well i'm very mature for my age, or atleast i think so and I really don't want to get messed up in college; if you know what i mean. By moving onto college won't i be moving too fast, and possibly get myself into trouble? Well these are just thoughts I've been having. You have both helped me in alot!! txnursingqt: How did things turn out for you? I mean getting your GED earlier and everything? Were you happier? I get unsure at times, I don't even know what specilties I would like to work in...but I am a thinker. Thanks for wishing me luck; I'm very excited about my internship! It sounds like you and I are very much alike. I appreciate your advice, I just can't wait till im out on my own!! How old are you both? and are you both working? I would like to get some perspective on nurisng jobs and what its like to be a RN!
