Failed a 2nd time and am ready to move on with the rest of my life...
Hi MetabaronX! You are not alone in not making the NCLEX for the second time. I am a second taker, myself. I'm a new member here too, hoping that this forum will be an add on to my learning. I understand the feeling of having studied really hard but still lacking some more. Like you, I have read many books, KAPLAN, Saunder's 4th Edition, Mary Ann Hogan's, Mosby's Pathophysiology Memory Cards, Nursing Mnemonics by JoaAnn Zerwekh, plus a lot more references. All of these are good books but I guess I had to be more relaxed to be able to absorb all of them deeply. I've heard stories of nurses passing the NCLEX the first time reading only one book and I ask myself what have I done wrong. You said most of your performances were near passing standard...same with mine. I've got the Safety and Infection Control above the passing standard but to my surprise, I was only near the passing standard in Psychosocial Integrity which I was confident in. lol! One thing I've realized went wrong is overanalyzing. "Paralysis by Analysis" so they say. There were also instances wherein I realized I submitted the wrong answer and how I wished I could go back to the question. Duh!! I'm sorry about how your wife has taken it. Let's go on, MetabaronX! We can both do it the third time around. Then success will be sweeter!!

Failed a 2nd time and am ready to move on with the rest of my life...
Hi redheadnurse08! I am a new member. I joined this forum, in the hope that it will help me in my journey to be a US RN. I failed the NCLEX exam the second time, myself. I just learned the result last week. I have read Saunder's 4th Edition, Kaplan, Mary Ann Hogan's, Mosby's Pathophysiology Memory Cards, etc. but still feel I need a lot more. You mentioned about Suzannes's plan that you are doing right now. How may I know more about the details?

How I passed my test for the second time
Thank you, Nishababy for sharing your experience and for recommending books. I am a new member, just joined a few days ago. I failed the NCLEX exam for the second time. I took the second Oct.15th of last month. I got my result in two weeks. Since then, I have been pondering how to strategize the next exam. I had an appreciation of the review per anatomical system but nothing that I learned seemed to help me even in the elimination process. I found the choices quite similar and had a hard time basically eliminating options. The prioritization questions kept on going and before I knew it, the computer stopped at the more than 150Q. For my resources, I focused on Saunder's 4th Edition and read Mary Ann Hogan's Child Health Nursing. Both proved helpful to me in a way as I've come accross some items I've encountered in these books. I was not able to read LaCharity's prioritization book and I knew before taking the test that I needed a lot of catching up in that aspect but I needed to take the test anyway. Is there any other book recommendation for me? I have not reapplied yet for the NCLEX as I need to wait for 45 days prior to reapplication. I need all the help I can get for the next time, the third time I will be taking the NCLEX! :typing
