Hey Joebrown, I know this is off subject, but I am a new nurse, and I am trying to start off in hospice. How is your orientation going? How long is your orientation? And do you feel like you're getting enough support as a new nurse? Thanks!

I called HHC Nursing recruiting last Wednesday (2/18/09) and they told me they were indeed on a hiring freeze, and for everyone (I guess they're getting a lot of calls) to be patient. She said they're still forwarding resumes to hospitals, but that they're not hiring at the moment.

I'm having the same trouble! I moved here from Austin late December, and I have no contacts in the area! I was talking with VNSNY, but they informed me the only openings they had were in the Bronx and Brooklyn and that I would need a car. I really wanted to work for them because I would eventually like to work in home health care/hospice. Does anyone else know of any good home health care agencies that hire new nurses? Thanks everyone for posting. I feel like I'm not the only one who's getting desperate and feeling frustrated!

I am thinking of applying to the Palliative Care NP program at NYU for the next year. Does anyone know anything about the program? All I know about the program is what is available on their website. Thanks! (First post!).
