Looking for a watch
I work on an ICU and I have found myself in need of a watch which has the capacity for multiple alarms (which can easily/quickly be set) to remind me of blood draws, glucose checks, procedures, misc. reminders, etc. I would use my phone but it's too bulky to carry at times. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Really need some advice....
You and I have a lot in common as far as your current situation is concerned. I graduated May 2010 and I'm from Huntington Beach. I did a lot of research (nationwide) trying to pick the best best location to live. The best location is obviously subjective for different reasons but as far as cost of living, new grad opportunities; after months of researching, San Antonio was my final pick. I've been here for three months and have been employed at a great hospital as a GN for two and a half months. I'm finishing orientation this week. I haven't had a lot of time to explore yet but I do like what I've seen so far. It's definitely warmer and there's no surfing but I do feel like I made the right choice. Let me know if I can help out in any way. Best of luck!

Moving to San Antonio
I'm moving from Huntington Beach to San Antonio in April and am looking for input on where to live. I'm looking for a rental house with a yard (I have two beagles) in the range of $800 - $1100 a month. I'm single and my daughter is grown up so I'm not worried about schools. The areas around 78244 and 78250 look good but I can't be sure. I'm flying in a few weeks to look at places and I'm going to have to make a fast decision. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Help me, I'm a new nurse with anxiety/depression.
I'm graduating in two months as an RN, but I've been working as an LPN for the last four months. It was stressful when I first started on the med/surge floor during my Christmas break, it was even harder when classes started. I remained focused on strengthening my weaknesses and kept in mind that no one expected me to perform like a seasoned nurse. I would not allow anyone (especially myself) to put that pressure on me. I'm supposed to be slower and ask a lot of "random" questions, I'm an entry nurse. There are some very good suggestions on these blogs, I suggest implementing them but I also want to add... My daughter moved to NYC a couple of years ago and she was drowning in her new corporate job, same sings and symptoms that your reported. My advice to her, "Manage your stress or your stress will manage you." I asked what was her favorite thing to do, running was one of them, reading was another. The best thing you can do to get your mind more productive is to give it a rest from thinking about work. This sounds so cliche but, take time to exercise it will truly make you feel better, you'll sleep better because you earned it after a long workout/walk/swim/tennis game... You seem to know when you worry most, fill that time with stuff you love, read to your child, take a "wonder walk" child, color with your child, just spend time with your child be the best parent possible, that's the most important thing in your life (its mine). Know that if you had the drive to pass nursing school, you have the same drive to conquer your anxiety and stress. Once you do that you (I promise) will have an easier time becoming a proficient nurse. Let me know how it goes!!! I believe in you!!!! :hrnsmlys:

Info for new nurses in San Antonio
Hi all! I moved a year and a half ago from Huntington Beach, Ca to Carlsbad NM (yeah it was a bit of a change) for their nursing program (great program). I just passed the LPN NCLEX and expect to finish My RN in seven months (May 09) and want to relocate to San Antonio as soon as I graduate. My long term goal is to become a CRNA and I need to work for two years in SICU or ICU before I can apply for CRNA school. So, my question(s), does anyone have any information on how to start working in these fields as a new graduate? Which hospitals are the best for new grads? Lastly, any advice for this soon to be San Antonio resident regarding: housing, cost of living, average new grad. pay, things to do, or any relevant ideas r/t moving to a new city, I don't have a school age kid (just a beagle) so school districts aren't too important. Thanks in advance, I really appreciate it!!! Jayk

NMSU Roadrunner or Pathways-HELP!
They don't offer the waiver at the Carlsbad program, but the out of state tuition is reasonable. I think the Las Cruces program only offers the four year program, Carlsbad is the two year program. The support staff here (secretaries, financial aid) are incredible. The program itself is challenging but if your willing to do the work, the instructors are more than willing to help. Email me at [email protected] if you have any more questions. Good Luck!
