  1. I was wondering for those nurses on the StaRN program in Tampa...is the pay while in training lower than a general starting RN.makes...plus is that lower pay the amount you stay with during the duration of the contract? Or do you get a higher pay after you are done with the training?
  2. in my facility we have a solution for foley irrigation, if its not aa. Usually NS. as far as the amount it depends if there is an order for it, Usually about 30 - 40 ml.
  3. for a double lumen, draw up your soultion (acitic acid and water etc...) You detach the drainage bag from the catheter. I keep sterile as poss. attach the syringe to the cath and instill. There usually is orders, or a facillity protocal. Some say instill and then reattach the drainage bag, some say instill and then take out. That you have to confirm with your facility. I hope this helps.
  4. OK i didnt read all your post but I have you beat, I worked in an SCI unit, not gonna say where, but I was utterly SHOCKED when they schooled me on Bowel Care. You talk about having to do EVERYTHING for someone. Geri is hard for the reason that here is a person that cant do for themself any more due to age, I had pt's that are young and middle aged that you have to do EVERYTHING for. But back to the poop. It was NOT one of my most favorable activities, however I got over it and now I just go in and GETR DONE!...lol. But there are times where the smell is very earthy and you have to contantly remind yourself to not make a face. But with practice you get better and just keep in mind the pt does not like it any more than you do. Although I have noticed that the older they get they just dont care. but still just be professional and remind your pt that its ok and as if its no big deal.
  5. my name is not jason, and i know of no past issue brought up on this site. I just signed up yesterday because i wanted to ask this question. I am not trying to sparke a problem, just a question. sorry if it seems that way. I didnt know this was such a touchy subject. really. :typing
  6. I was not looking for leagal advise, nor am I asking for personal experience, i am simply wondering if other more experienced nurses out there have either been in this situation or know someone in the situation. It seems to me that it is assumed that when people ask certain questions, they are asking for personal experience. (NOT THE CASE HERE)That in and of itself is judgmental. If I knew this would be such a touchy subject I would have never asked.
  7. judgmental, whatever. Plus im not your honey, your the one that said I was a gossip. You are being judgmental. I simply explained why I was asking. If anyone is being judgmental it is you. Why do you care what I ask, If you have no feedback regarding the subject then don't reply.
  8. First on all i am not furthering gossip. If that is your reply then someone has a guilty mind, second of all i am asking out of curiosity. to gossip is to talk of names places and specific details, I am asking in general. Is this not a forum to ask just this type of question or only the ones that are ok by you. grow up, we are all adults here. I have read many questions regarding situation that other nurses have experienced and have wanted either advise or opinions of others. Well I am entitled just the same.
  9. this is the first time i used this site, and I tried asking this differently and for some reason the thead was closed, I guess it seemed questionable. So I figured I needed to ask in a better way as to not give the wrong impression, I ask becaue when you are in nursing school you hear things here and there, but you never really think if it could be true, and now that I am working after graduating in March I am shocked to find out that it does happen. Also I am studying Psychology for a pre req for my BSN and the subject we are studying is reg attraction and what attracts people to eachother. i myself found my husband online, while just chatting in a community chat room and here we are 6 years later. I was curious if this is a common thing happening often or just sparingly. but why do you ask?
  10. do you remember the title? plus I see what your saying, I mean I feel the same way, as far as ethical goes, i mean if nothing happened while the patient was in the hospital and something progressed after, then is there really an ethical issue. If it was mutual and consentual, both being of capable mental ability, I would see it as two people that met in a really wierd way. I met my husband online in an online chat room before it was a popular thing to do. Today we have 3 children and are very happy, who would have thought.
  11. My unit had an issue recently reg a nurse and a patient. The patient fell for the nurse and she felt the same but did nothing about it untill the patient was discharged. My question is, Is this allowed? I thought that this would go against just about any nursing borad regulations, but ive heard that because nothing happened while the patient was in the hospital that it is not "against the rule" sort to speak, Just wondering if any other more experienced nurses have ever heard of this sort of thing? just curious, im a new nurse.
  12. has any one ever know or has fallen for a patient. and if so what happend and can someone lose there license if they feel this way but nothing ever happens between the two people while the patient is in the hospital? Also can a nurse loose thier license if the two people meet in the hospital but dont hook up untill after the patient is discharged? I heard of a situation recently and I had all these questions but we are banned from talking about his situation with other co-workers.
