This happens all the time in our hospital..Especially in the OR.Sadly though..no one dared to make a complaint since we were all holding really tight to our "limited jobs". One particular thing that had happened to me was when a surgeon was reaching for the OR lights handle and hit me straight in the face as i was also hovering over the field to see what was happening on the site and that i could anticipate his needs.He never said anything and looked at me as if saying "what's the matter with you?" i said sorry instead.I was holding my tears though, as it really was painful. My face was aching for many days..Iknow he didn'y mean it,but a piece of sorry could have sufficed. Few weeks back,he was the same surgeon who threw an instrument to a colleague who was new in the department then. From time to time flying instruments are everywhere in the OR in the hospital i work in. And once this happens to you, this becomes used against you all the time.

new rule after june 26, 2010 is that full application should be sent to CIO in Nova scotia. Whereas before, only initial application should be sent to CIO.CC is credit card. I applied for assessment in CRNBC. Good for you, you have AEO. AOR is acknowledgement of receipt.

I have started immigration process already. But have fallen under the new rule which is after june 26, 2010. So i'm still waiting.

crnbc received my completed application forms,payment form,copy of ielts test report form,proof of identification,[color=#333333]basic nursing education and request for transcript - form 30,employment reference for nurse registration - form 37 on the first week of august. the licensing authority in the philippines sent the verification of nurse registration - form 25 last week and as i checked it yesterday tracking info says delivered to richmond b.c. [color=#333333] [color=#333333]i was expecting to see vancouver in the delivery address.should i be worried about this? The Philippines may have an overflowing of nurses and they may seek opportunities in other countries, but that doesn't make us less of a person or a nurse. As stated by other moderators in this forum, let us treat each other with respect. Let us watch our every word or statement as this may hurt another person. Perhaps you're right that we are not being valued as much as you are being valued in your government. But does that also include being undermined by fellow nurses? You may have lived in a better environment and studied in bigger and hi-tech institutions but that never meant you are better nurses than we are. We nurses in the Philippines are as determined, caring and skillfull as you are. We were just deprived of better facilities and resources to learn. But despite that fact, we still managed to make an impression in the world. You may brand us with a lot of things but the fact that our services are being demanded all over the world proved the quality of our service. I meant no offense, but if you don't want competition from other countries you might as well prove your worth in your own country. Not to us who never meant to step on anybody but is just striving to help those who are need (patients and our starving families).

The canadian immigration currently released a ministerial instruction indicating 38 occupation list they process on fast track. And registered nurse is on the list. Applicants either need an arranged employment or proof of funds, depending on the family size. Not to mention the other requirements such as the 1 year continous paid employment.

hi atzrn, nope havent applied yet.weve found a problem in one of our supporting document in the family and were trying to resolve it before we apply.but i have a friend who has already applied.she passed her inital application last november and received her acknowledgement of receipt 3 weeks after.january this year a full aplication was requested from them and they were given 120 days to complete the supporting documents.please nothe that proof of funds are required.depending on the number of your immediate family members who will accompany you to canada.hpe this helps.

hi stef_08.thats a well established plan. And i agree with it. i suggest you visit the canadian immigration website as there has been some changes in the processing time and procedures for federal skilled workers. I think they call it ministerial instructions.

i couldnt agree more gianphilippines. Looks to me they have established their "roots" in the unit. So the headnurse is on their side.After i left somebody told me that all the headnurses in the unit have been demoted and that there was a reorganization. The said medical surgical floor was the most "chaotic" as they call it. So the NSO decided to reorganize and brought in other heads from other units. I guess i might not inlude it in my resume. But my other concern is in the forms of immigration. Will i be in trouble if i don't diclose this info?

hi nurses. I have worked in a tertiary internationally accredited hospital here in Metro Manila 2 years ago. Trained for a month and waited for a call to tell me that i can start working. I was very excited to work since its my first hospital work. I didn't mind the workload (was assigned in a surgical unit),i, infact enjoyed it even if it means not eating nor pee until my shift ends. It was after all one of the best hospital in the Philippines. Even if im a newbie i already handle same number of patients,same level of cases with the seniors. My batchmates have ben sent to just attend programmes and unimportant non professional related seminars while im going about with the duties of a medical surgical nurse.Never had lates, nor absences.(except for one time that i didn't know the sched was changed and i wasnt informed). I thought i was doing well,if not great. I did not realize that the seniors found me "too good" to be in that floor. In short, they don't like me.Until one day i have this diabetic,hypertensive patient which has a recurring infection. During my shift i was about to give her an IV antibiotic. During the training we were told that we need to flush the line first with Saline solution. So i did just that. The daughter of the patient then asked me why i did that and what it is for. So i explained to her. I was surprised when she said that the other nurses who cared for her mother don't do that. Especially the nurse in the previous shift (which is a senior nurse). I did not now what to say. But i told her she might have not noticed. But perhaps they are doing the flushing too. Little did i know that she called the PAO (patients assistance office) and reported that the other nurses do not do the flushing before administering an IV antibiotic. THe next day when i arrive to work the senior nurses where looking at me furiously. I wanted to ask what the problem was but i kept quite. My shift was suppose to be 2-10. but its already 1 am and the seniors wont let me go.they gave me tasks and errands that are not suppose to be my job anymore.And i am already weakened by hunger. The next days they would do the same thing. Whenever they make schedule plans i will always be the first admission, assigned to most toxic cases,no break..etc. Until i decided to talk to the supervisor. The only mistake i made was telling my batchmate that i'll talk to my supervisor.One of the Seniors overheard and she told the others. I can only cry when they summoned me to the nurses lounge and threatened me that if i don't resign immediately they will jeopardize my work.One even told me that i should know what they can do to ruin me.I was so afraid that i didn't bother showing up for my next shift. I couldn't resign because if i resign i need to pay the hospital for the remaining months in the contract. And i don't have the money to pay them which will cost about 100k in pesos. My dilemma now is,should i include that work experience in my applications? Especially in immigration forms? I'm so confused.Because if ill be asked to provide a proof of employment i dont have anything to show them.

hi everyone, i need a verification or atleast enlightenment for this one. a canadian consultancy firm (if thats what its really called) has emailed me and inform me that the processing time for an application as permanent resident in canada under the federal skilled workers category (registered nurses included in the list) has changed from 5-6 years in the old system to 6-12 months in the current system. according to them this was a reference from the annnouncement of immigration minister kenny. here's a portion of the email: on november 28, 2008, the canadian immigration minister mr. kenney announced immigration levels for 2009; issued instructions on processing federal skilled workers. "we expect new federal skilled worker applicants, to receive a decision within 6 -12 months compared with up to six years under the old system," said minister kenney. i've been inquiring about how to immigrate in canada the past months and i came across this news. i hope somebody knows about this or can atleast tell me how to verify this news before i decide to pass my application.thanks everyone. god bless you.

I intend to live and work in Canada. I planned on going to the States before (thats why i have the CVS (Credentials verification Services for NY State), NCLEX and CGFNS certificate) but plans have changed since my mother liked it better in Canada. :nuke: Plus i might not be able to use my NCLEX by the time retrogression has been lifted since i took my NCLEX for the California boards (with 3 years validity only:cry:). But thats fine i guess. Atleast I'll be with my Mother whom i haven't been with for 14 years. Anyway, thanks again.
