Orange Park Medical Center - Anyone work here? Med/Psych Interview Soon
What experience do you have? I have been a nurse for 4 years mostly neuro/stroke. I am so excited to finally land a job in L&D! I wish you luck!

Orange Park Medical Center - Anyone work here? Med/Psych Interview Soon
I have worked there in the past and I am about to restart working there in 2 weeks in the Labor and Delivery department. I've worked in several hospitals and OPMC has been my favorite. For the interview it will be a panel interview with the manager, educator and director of the unit. They usually also have you interview with your peers but not all units do that. If they like you, you interview with the CNO but it is not a real interview it's more like a meet and greet. The benefits are expensive compared to other places I've worked. The OT is awesome, each hour of OT you work, you get paid time and a half plus an additional $10 each hour.

No More ED Report?
Here in Jacksonville, Florida that's how majority of the hospitals are. We received an SBAR and have 15 minutes to call if we have any questions, they then send the patient up. I rather it this way because I never got a proper report from the ER anyway.

First term really isn't that bad! You just need time management skills! I currently have straight As and I still have a social life! But then again I am used to taking 18 credits a semester so 12 credits aren't that bad to me... Go to class everyday and pay attention you will ace the tests!!!

They give you a paper with all the sections listed with the teachers and hospital. You pick a number and you pick the section you like if its not full, If you go to north campus right outside of the nursing office there are the sheets with the section for each terms on it on the terms communication board....
-
FCCJ Summer 2010 hopefuls...
Each sections have different teachers, you get to pick your section and you want to get the section with the good teachers, like the ones who make the test!

As long as you got an email you are fine! It does take about 7 days for titers but as long as you have something from the doctor stating that you have had them drawn you are fine....

FYI if you do not have any insurance go to the Northside Medical Clinic (where we get drug tested at) they do all of things required for the program... Another thing they do not send out emails and letter by ABC order they do it and rounds.... if you didn't hear anything this week then you will hear something after the people who accepted/declined their seats on Monday! I am so happy for you guys!!

I didnt go by the nursing office today, but I will take a peak tomorrow after class! The latest should be next week since that will be your 6 weeks! The two books needed are Dosage Calculations A Ratio-Proportion Approach Second Addition by Gloria D. Pikar and the other book would be Exploring Medical Language A Student-Directed Approach 7th edition by Myrna LaFleur Brooks! You guys can join the nursing tutor community on blackboard under North Campus communties there is a tab that says community you click on that, then go to North Campus then stroll down until you see Nursing Tutor and click enroll, this is where all of the self studies are and ppts on the dosage calc and med term along w/ practice pgs! Good luck everyone!
