  1. Congratulations everyone...it was not meant to be for me, at least not at this time. Though the hit was hard to take, I know God has other plans for me, so now its time to figure out what those are exactly. Its Columbia's loss, they're missing out on a great student and future Midwife. Wish you all the best!
  2. I also haven't heard anything yet for the Midwifery/WHNP track... at this point I'm pretty sure it's a rejection. Why else haven't they sent out a decision yet?Any news would be appreciated right now, denial or acceptance. My stomach can't take this waiting anymore. :barf01: At least I'll know it's time to begin Plan B, ya know? For those who are Columbia bound, I know you guys will have an amazing experience and I wish you all the success in the world as students and future CNM/NP's!!
  3. :yelclap:First, CONGRATULATIONS on all the acceptances to Columbia!! I grew up in NY and attending Columbia has always been a dream of mine. For those of you moving to NYC, it is what you make of it, as is anything in life. Attending Columbia will be the same. Be grateful for the opportunity to pursue your dreams and find value in everything! I haven't heard yet, please send some positive energy this way!! My stomach turns into knots every time I check my email!!
  4. I received a decision online from Penn yesterday and am waiting to hear from Columbia. Like everyone else, the wait is killing me too! I applied to the CNM program and hearing that Columbia only accepts 20 students is very intimidating!! I wish the best for everyone!! We will all end up where we should.
  5. I considered looking into SB's program for non-nurses with a BS in another field, but I came under the impression from viewing the website that you must be an RN in order to qualify for admission. Is that true?
  6. Thank you for your input on NYU. I was going to look into it since the program has opened up again. What is the annual tuition for the accelerated BSN program? $85k??
  7. The HB midwife I worked with at one point discussed her salary with me and having a HB practice brought her in about $20k yearly. She charged about $2,000 per birth and took on about 10-12 births a year, I believe. She did say that her husband was the primary income, since they would not be able to live comfortably with two children on that salary. CNM's who work in a group practice or hospital begin at $60k-80k+ if I am not mistaken. Hope that helps!
  8. I applied to Yale last fall for admission into the accelerated program for non-nurses in Midwifery & WH. About a week after the deadline for the application, I received an email from the admissions office stating that a letter of rec was missing. I went into my online app to see what was going on and it turns out someone who agreed to write one for me never submitted hers. I contacted her immediately, but 3 days later received an email from admissions stating that they withdrew my application due to the missing letter of rec. I explained that I couldn't control when my recommender submitted the letter, even though I asked her with enough time in advance and also refused to extend a courtesy of a couple of days for that recommender. I asked for my application fee back at least and they refused to refund it, despite the fact that they did not even look at my application to give me a formal decision. If that's how they treat an applicant who was really interested in their program, I didn't care to find out how I'd be treated as a student. I did not have a pleasant experience with them but I hope you have a better one. Best of luck to you!
