  1. If you almost finished your degree and your GPA isn't too horrendous, why not apply using your university grades? You can apply to go directly into the RN program instead of having to go for RPN then the bridge program.
  2. Absolutely London, Ottawa, pretty much anywhere but T.O.
  3. Are you asking about Toronto? Yes, yes it is. People here think we're New York Jr. Always in a rush and never accommodating to others. Rent is ridiculous, buying a house even more so I go to school in the heart of downtown so I see the worst of the city. It's smelly, smoky and just overall depressing. I would say only half of the population knows how to speak English, the rest don't bother learning because there are so many segmented cultural/ethnic areas here. Now that I'm older I do see why most of the rest of Canada hates Toronto.
  4. Don't come to Toronto! Big city attitudes and high cost of living. I'm outta here as soon as I graduate, moving to the west coast.
  5. 'Cause it's the coolest job in the world
  6. Uhhh, sorry to break it to you, but Canada has one of the best health care systems in the world (I'm not being bias). You can't generalize about the conditions of hospitals in Canada when you're basing it on only one experience from your dad.
  7. a 76 will probably get you into Humber and any other college site that is part of a collaborative program. I suggest you apply to Humber, Centennial, George Brown, Seneca and Durham/UOIT. If you want to start at a university, upgrade your mark. Actually, it wouldn't hurt you to upgrade it anyway. Good luck
  8. I agree 100% I know a lot of people who smoke several times a day, for many years now, and if anything, MJ mellows them out and makes them more laid back. Sounds like he's battling a more severe addiction.
  9. First off, saying it's okay to smoke weed is not "stooping" to another level. Stop acting like you're better than everyone, because you're not. Secondly, I used to smoke weed off and on. I can say first hand that it is not addictive, as I do not smoke it anymore, do not crave it, in fact I never really liked it, it was more of a social thing and fun to do at the appropriate times. Because you've experienced first-hand something negative that came about from marijuana use, and to your own brother, I can see why you have such a negative view about it. It is not the marijuana that caused your brother to get into a bad lifestyle, it was your brother. If someone chooses to do something, like smoke pot, and mess up their life over it, it's their own fault. Your brother chose his own path in life and now he has to deal with it. It's not right of you to smear everyone that smokes pot because of your bad experience. And yes you're right, it's illegal. But drugs are drugs, that's what you said too, right? So tomorrow I'll make an appointment with my doctor, telling her I have severe back pain, and she'll prescribe me some pain meds. But really I don't have any back pain and I'm just going to abuse the meds. Oh, but that's okay right, because I got the drugs and am taking them legally? Your logic makes absolutely no sense, sorry.
  10. Uh, just because someone drinks sometimes in their off time, doesn't mean they're an alcoholic. Same if someone smokes MJ in their off time, it doesn't make them a drug abuser. As someone in the healthcare industry you should be able to distinguish the difference. It is unfortunate what happened to your brother, but some people are smarter than that and can keep it under control. There are plenty of people that seem "prominent" and then go home after work and light up a joint. Some of the people you'd least expect to use marijuana actually do.
  11. You keep pulling the "illegal" card but I can safely say that most people constantly break the law, including you. How often do people jaywalk, speed (even if it's 1 km over the speed limit), drink underage, commit traffic violations, download movies/music without paying, litter, don't wear a seat belt, use fireworks, don't report extra income, blah blah blah, I could go on and on. Please don't act like a martyr; your self-righteous attitude in this thread is getting kind of tiresome. If nurses want to smoke MJ, it's their prerogative, as long as they're not impaired while working, then what is it to you? People indulge in behaviours that have more negative effects than pot smoking, like drinking (an obvious one) and smoking (cancer, anyone?). Oh and to the person who said it's hypocritical to promote health to a patient if you're an MJ smoker... how many times has someone educated an obese diabetic patient about the adverse effects of eating junk food high in carbs, and then went and ate a donut? or how about all the nurses who smoke and educate clients on the effects of tobacco? Just because you indulge in some of this "less than desirable" behaviour, it does not make you a bad nurse. We're all human, no one is perfect
  12. Colloid - many suspended molecules (usually proteins) in a liquid Think of mixing sand in a bucket of water... it will all eventually settle at the bottom in the end Solution - contains a solute (molecules being dissolved) and a solvent (liquid that the solutes dissolve in) Think of sugar in coffee
  13. Well you'll be doing you apps soon right? If I remember correctly it's around this time of year you do your online applications. February is the soonest you will know of an early admission.. and you'll only get one if you have all the required prerequisites and a decent average You'll love the Ryerson collaborative program if you decide to do it. Good luck
  14. My school deceived us at orientation. They said we would be getting a "lovely oyster and royal blue" combination What did we get? BROWN AND NAVY BLUE! EW!
