  1. I just switched to nights 5 weeks ago. I usually work 2 twelve hour shifts, have a day off and then work one more. I like the pace at night, but I also find that I'm tired all the time. I really wonder if it's worth the damage to my health. I'd love to be able to go to sleep within one hour of getting home like one of the posters said, but I'm just not ready to do that. I like the job, but am seriously thinking of quitting and finding a lower-paying day job.
  2. I am in my 12th week of orientation and I'm amazed at the number of mistakes that I continue to make. I think feeling stressed out about making mistakes adds to the problem. However, it helps me to think about the mistake and try to figure out a way to avoid it next time. That seems to help.
  3. I'm in my 12th week of nursing and feel anxiety for about 24 hours before going to work. I work on a tele floor. The anxiety basically ruins my day. I just keep hoping that it will start to let up with each week that passes. I feel better after I have met my patients for the shift, but I still feel anxiety when I think I'm going to get an admit during the shift. For me, it's about the unknown or the unexpected. I don't like the feeling and have seriously thought about quitting my job because of it. So far, I have been able to force myself to go each shift. The main thing that keeps me going at this point is that as a new nurse, it would be difficult for me to find another job if I quit this one so soon. In the meantime, I keep looking for another job that I think that I would actually like. It helps me to know that other people also get so anxious going to work.
  4. I am in my 12th week of orientation. I have 2 more weeks to go before I'm on my own. I'm very anxious. I don't want to go off orientation, I'm so anxious. I would love to quit, but am afraid to because the economy is so bad. I think my biggest fear is getting sued.
