Am I too old to just be starting?
you are exactly right you are going to get flack for saying such an insensitive, and stupid remark. so i guess in your opinion if you're in your 40's or 50's you might as well start picking out a nursing home. let me tell you a few things: 1. you just showed at 26 you are very immature AND very disrespectful 2. who gives you the right to be so judgemental? 3. with your lack of respect for OLD people you have no business working with the public, especially being a nurse 4. do you honestly think there aren't enough positions to go around - afraid the OLD people might just get the job and you won't? well on this one you might be right - we are older, smarter, and have a lot more experience to offer 5. i can honestly say i hope i never work with you and i certainly hope you are not a nurse who takes care of anyone i know. i doubt you have the brains and you have proven you don't have the compassion for people under the age of 40 6. do you think we don't need a job too for the next 20 years? don't you realize we have bills to pay too? i would go on and on but i don't even think it is worth my time, neither are you. :angryfire tylers mom YOU sure do have a lot to learn!

out of school for 10yrs - which accelerated bsn school?
hi verano05, i actually did find some schools. the schools i got letters from were missouri, stony brook and kent state. i accepted at kent state b/c it was the closest to my home town (still 6 hours away though). i am in the first semester and everyone associated with the program has been over the top, so i feel i made an excellent choice. i can tell you with kent they have expanded their program and are now taking 30 students three times a year - aug, may, and jan. i was also working on applications for villanova and oklahoma city univ so you may want to check them out as well. if you have any questions please don't hesitate to send me another message. good luck!

Am I too old to just be starting?
ABSOLUTLEY NOT! i just started an accelerated program this month.......i am 37. there are two ladies in my class who are over 50 and another one who is almost 50. yes, we are the oldest in the group but so what. we are a student just like anyone else, only we bring a little more experience and life knowledge to the dynamic of our class. there is no reason you should feel too old. as a matter of fact most of the students are in their late 20's anyway, so being 30 you will probably be right in the mix. our class has single, married, with children, without children, and different races and cultures are represented. my only advice is try to take pre-req's before you start if possible - it will make the intensity of an accelerated program a little (only a little) easier. good luck!!!!

Fundraising Ideas?
mom and me candles in somerset, ky has a great fundraiser program. you get half of the sell which isn't like other fundraisers - such as, if you sell a candle for $6, they get three and you get three. they also have a fundaiser with melting tarts. they are the best candles i have ever had and they will work with you and your group. it's a family store and they have been in business for over 10 years. mom and me candles 606-561-0548

out of school for 10yrs - which accelerated bsn school?
quickbeam - i have checked the prereq's for the programs i know about and i'm interested in but that is my question.......i am asking if anyone had suggestions on particular programs. there are over 200 in the nation and checking each one is quite a daunting task, although i am trying. i also have a&p, inorganic chem, organic chem, biochem, genetics, ethics, trig, calculus - the only problems i have run into is not having nutrition and stats but i have found several programs that do not require either of these. rnsrwe - my degrees are in bio, mn in chem and health sci. i realize i need to check with the schools but that is the question i was asking - which schools? doc2bmo - ty. that is exactly the kind of advice i was looking for.

happybunnynurse, thank you but i checked into this school and this was copy and pasted directly from the university of mississippi medical college: Science courses taken more than ten (10) years ago will not be acceptable for transfer credit.

out of school for 10yrs - which accelerated bsn school?
any state and any school as long as it is an accelerated program and the school must be accredited.
