Did I make a mistake by not reviewing before my first job?
HOW DID YOUR FIRST WEEK GO? I'm starting next Wednesday on a Tele Unit and have till then to go over my cardiac Meds!

May 2008 grads....how are things going?
I am definitely one of those new grads sitting and waiting... although I was offered a telemetry position I'm unsure of... do you think it's fishy that I was hired on the spot without even seeing the unit or meeting the nurse manager?

6 mos. now, ready to give it up!
Hearing your point of view gives me some perspectives... I too have just been hired for a temeletry position... but can't see myself working on such a unit. I sign papers next week although hesitant to take the position. I only took it because its been so hard to find a job as a new grad I became desperate. No offense but I see my future in your shoes... I'm stuck in a pickle. Although I'm afraid if I don't take the position I'll be stuck Job hunting for another 6 months!! I really don't want to start my career being miserable as well....

Need advice in starting out as a New Grad
I was just hired as a new grad for a Telemetry Unit, although I always had a strong desire to work in women's services like Labor and Delivery... unfortunately I became desperate to find a job since it's been so cut throat for hiring new grads lately in southern California. I haven't signed any hire papers yet, though its scheduled for next week. All the hiring for new grad programs for most hospitals start in February... Should I wait and hold off this Telemetry position and apply for a position I really wanted to start my career in? I spoke with a nurse recruiter this morning and he told me that hiring new grads is very competitive right now and out of 250 applicants they will only take 20 new grads.. I really desire working on a Labor and delivery unit and want to start my career on such a unit, not telemetry, although I feel I was lucky enough to get hired since I've been job hunting for 4 months now... but I don't want to put all my eggs in basket... what to do.. any advice?

I Passed the NCLEX RN!! :w00t: Thank you all for all of your support! The waiting was horrific! I took the exam on Oct 2nd (last thursday) and checked the BON website everyday and finally gave up yesterday -- but today I decided to check one last time and my name appeared! I screamed and cried and blinked and did a double take and screamed again!! I'm finally a RN!!!

iloveclay -- a majority of the pharm questions on my NCLEX today consisted of herbal drugs like garlic, fever few, ginko, some on diuretics, and antilipemic agents... and that's all I can really remember, but yes mainly asking whats contraindicated, side effects, and proper administration...

We're definitely in the same boat as of the moment! I took my NCLEX today and had a ton of Pharm that I didn't focus on either even a lot of herbals!! I felt like I guessed on most of them and those were a majority of my questions!.. I'm feeling down in the dumps too -- but I'm really trying to take everyone's advice in that this is a normal feeling... I really do feel like I failed it myself as well... so you are definitely not alone!
